  1. 1. Favorite Football Movie ?  - Brian's Song (dare you to watch without a tear in your eye)

    2. Ae you saving now for your first/next AWAY Football game in 2007? - No, that's why God created credit cards.

    3. Most memorable play from Sept. 6, 1997 ?  - The kickoff - it meant we finally had a team

    4. Will Ponton be our leading rusher in 2006?  - Grothe (or Leavitt throwing fits)

    5. Do you speak a foreign 2nd language ? - Does profanity count???????

  2. Being in Tampa for meetings next week, I was finally able to see a game this year (cable TV issues in VA).

First question, in a school the size of USF, is there NO ONE who can punt a freaking football????  The grounding penalty hurt, the bad snap at our 20 hurt, but the horrific punts hurt worse.  When you give them the ball inside the 50, can you expect to not be scored on?

The turnovers were killer, but I'd blame the first INT on Rutgers pass rush, it appeared that Grothe was drilled as he threw it.  Much like a tip, can't give him 100% of the blame on that one.

It would be nice to have some running game other than a QB draw or scramble.

With all that, I'm encouraged, we held our own with Rutgers.  Maybe it's glass half-full thinking, but assuming we can find a running back and some kickers, we may have something brewing.

  3. Since I haven't lived in the bay area since I graduated in 79, every game is a road game for me.  However:

    98 - Ga Southern - L

    02 - ECU - W

    03 - ECU - W

    05 - Miami - L

    05 - Bowl - NCSU - L

    06 - UNC - ???

    Better Home Record:

    97 - Ky Wesleyan - W

    98 - Valparaiso - W

    02 - Bowling Green - W

    05 - Louisville - W

    06 - Rutgers - ???

  4. In case any of you other long lost fans are XM subscribers, the McNeese game is slated to be available on XM channel 200 Saturday night.  XM carries "selected" Big East games, they've only posted scheduled through 9/16, McNeese is the only game scheduled thus far.  In case your cable doesn't pick up the pay-per-view.

  5. Both the sack and int came after the concussion, although I don't think it was ever officially called a concussion.  And the sack forced a fumble.  Forcing 2 turnovers, even against the backups, is the way to stay employed.

And between that hit last night and the one in the Hall of Fame game, JR has been in on the two best hits of the year.  Cool.
