Smith, who was the lowest paid offensive coordinator in the BCS making $106,000, is expected to receive a comparable salary at WVU as quarterbacks coach. -
New topic, so I don't have to keep posting it.
According to this article by Greg Auman:

Leavitt said he'd told Smith and Frey he'd match the offers. So they did NOT leave for the money!

This is really not such a bad thing.
Now, we'll have a clue as to what WVU's quarterback and OL coachs are thinking.
And...

...his salary is increasing from 95,000 to 145,000, more than a 50% increase. not many would refuse that.
<snip>
he tried to leverage, through offers from other schools, enough salary increase for his assistants to keep them but it's hard to compete with a 50% raise.

32. Big East – Formerly known as the Big Least, the conference finished its 2006 National Tour for Respect by sweeping all five of its bowl games. None of the victories were especially surprising, however, for a league that was on its heels just a couple of years, the post-season performance was yet another sign that the news of its demise had been greatly exaggerated.

From College Football News:
http://cfn.scout.com/2/608059.html
77. South Florida LB Stephen Nicholas – Nicholas capped a banner career in Tampa, fueling a Bull defense that held East Carolina to just a single touchdown in the PapaJohns.com Bowl. The senior had six tackles, three tackles for loss, two passes broken up and the two sacks needed to become the school’s all-time leader in the category.
65. South Florida D – The Bulls lost their offensive catalyst, QB Matt Grothe, in the first half of the PapaJohns.com Bowl, but they didn’t miss him. That’s because the defense played lights out for four quarters. Led by LB Stephen Nicholas, DE George Selvie and CB Mike Jenkins, the speedy South Florida unit held East Carolina to 268 yards and no points over the final 50 minutes for the school’s first bowl win.

2006 CFN Final Season Rankings

Interesting formula. They (their opinion) rank us at 24, but their formula drops us to 33.

Always root for State teams when playing out of state. (native cracker)
There is only one team in the state of Florida that I root for!

top reasons for an 8-team playoff:
#1: all bowl games remain with either 3 or 7 games added (depending on whether the bowl games themselves are used for playoff, which is probably the best way to do it). remember, 1 game is already there that is not a bowl game. just need 2 to 5 more.
This is the #1 reason why there will NEVER be an 8 team playoff. There is no way in hell that many more games will be added.
-
Although, UL won the Orange Bowl, they did not play that well the first 3 quarters. If they play that way in a game against UF, the Gators would beat their butts.
-
According to AccuScore.com, a sports simulation Web site, the Bulls would defeat East Carolina 62 percent of the time based on more than 10,000 game simulations. In its 10,000 game simulations, AccuScore.com calculated an average final score of USF 24.2, ECU 19.9. Not surprisingly, USF is a 4 1/2 -point favorite.

Since both team's fans will be on the same side of the stadium, and some of both team's fans may be wearing gold, the entire stadium will be Green, Gold and Purple. Mardi Gras colors!

I'll be wearing my new gray sweatshirt and my new green hat. Wife will be wearing the green sweatshirt.
No, no! It has to be an OLD sweatshirt! The more grungy, the more you will look like CJL. ;D
-
I wear a gray USF tee shirt for all of the games, except last years bowl game when I wore green. Needless to say that didn't go so well, so I'll be wearing gray.
Show your support for Coach Leavitt by wearing a gray sweatshirt. [smiley=laugh.gif]

Ah, the college road trip. What better way to spread beer-fueled mayhem?

I would go with '98 ... the year I finally rec'd my degree... plus it's not usually a popular number...
i like the degree year. but what do you do if you have 2 degrees?
go with your first one.
Buy 2 jerseys cheapo
Good thinking! And if I add one with my birth year, that will be 3 jerseys. One in green, one in white and the last one in gold!

Wow! There's a lot of morning people on this board. My group's not leaving until late morning (maybe even noon). I'm fine with it as long as we get there in time for some BBQ dinner and nightlife/drinks.
-
Also - Mellow Mushroom at 5 points is a cool place to eat and drink some German beers. We have one in Orlando now, not sure if you do in Tampa - but if you don't - definitely take some time to grab dinner or late night drinks there.
There are at least 2 in the Tampa area. Great pizza, but for some reason it takes forever to bake. Good beer selection too.
