  1. Why build an OCS when you have a top notch NFL stadium to play in?  Let's start getting mad that we don't have enough decorations (although each year this gets better).  Let's campaign for a USF Bulls logo on the big (rotating) advertisement boards.  Let's petetion for painting the freakin' field every game.  If there's a Bucs game, we repaint that night afterwards, barring rain, it can't take that long to dry.

Not going to happen.  The Buc's make millions off of those advertising boards.  Those boards are paid for by companies that expect those advertisments to be there 24/7.  If USF wants a logo there, let them pay for it.

I don't know why USF can't paint the field, but if it is as easy as you would say, I would think the Bucs would have done it.

  2. Bien, I am curious how you can say that UCF is funding with bonds only.  2,000 apartments are owned by the UCFAA.  Rents are said to be $2,370 for each dorm/apartment each, per semester.  That is $4,740,000 per sememster.  I know there is a debt service with that, but its still going to be a great revenue source.  And to have national credit tenants on a ten year lease, that is better than future ticket sales as well.  I think UCF has made the model many universities will follow in the future.

  3. I hate to burst your bubble, well, I do enjoy it, but take a closer look at the University Mall.  Mr. Glimcher does not own the land or buildings that are Sears, Burdines or Dillards.  Thus, it cuts the property in half at best.  Now try to buy out those three companies and you can add another $50 million just starting, but first you have to find another location and buy them that as well.

  4. Okay, so lets call it a 3 hour recruiting tool than.  Every kid that UCF is interested will get a call or a text message the week before the game.  How many kids will decide to make that official trip to UCF because of the game?  No telling but considering what our campus will look like by 2007, it sure won't hurt.

Anyway, the subject was UCF vs USF.  S.Bien will want to convince everyone that USF is better off getting one for ones with other teams or two for ones from the likes of FIU or FAU.  No one can argue where USF is today, and what they have done has worked for USF.  But now that USF is in the Big East and because there are now 12 games instead of 11 every year, USF is in a bit of a quandry. USF will have to schedule three home OOC games every year.  I ask you this, why would a decent BCS team schedule USF for a one for one when they can schedule other schools for two for ones?  USF does nothing for them, if they want to get into Florida so bad, they will just do a two for one with FIU or FAU as well.  And how much longer before FIU and FAU say no to two for ones with USF?

The arrogance that S.Bien shows, I hope for most USF fans on this board, your AD does not have.  There are not enough teams in the Big East for USF to piss away a good, guaranteed game every year.  It only hurts the fans of both schools, who apparently have shown by attendance, this to be their favorite game.

  5. Ahhh, spare us the big Texas visit talk.  Please don't come here explaining why you'll never do this and never do that, then start complaining on your board why a deal hasn't been inked.  If you don't want to play us for a 2 for 1 then fine, we've got others willing to do so.  FIU, and FAU are begging for more games as we speak.

I hardly think you will find anyone complaining from the UCF standpoint when it comes to a 2 for 1 and I think you know as well as I do, that it will never happen.  UCF's 2007 schedule is complete as well and there are 11 games scheduled for 2008.  I just hope for your sake and USF's sake that FIU and FAU bring over 10,000 fans to the game because from where I am standing, that is a loss of over $200,000.  Smart business.

Pipe dream?  Hmmm, call me when the next 1 for 1 deal comes in between us.  Isn't it odd to you that O'Leary is starting to go public about 'wanting' to play us.  As if to say that current negotiations have reached a stalemate (I wonder what's caused the impasse).  He's starting to take the Coach K route, maybe I can shame them to play us.  Why don't you worry about your scheduling and we'll worry about ours.  If your new AD wants to schedule us he knows the number and what it will take.  In the mean time you go get excited about Texas 'potentially' visiting your new stadium.  That should be a fun game for you all, I will give you that.  We've got our 5 OOC games set into 2008 tentatively so we're not begging anyone to play us.

impass, how about stupidity.  As I said before, lets see how long it takes USF to realize they can't guarantee the payouts those one for ones will want.  As to why UCF wants to play the game, brains, they understand teh financial aspects of the game, also, O'leary is probably pushing for the game because is not a coward like THE JIM.

    Yes, I have noticed.

Do you want to know how? Ok, because stupid UCF fans post on a USF MESSAGE BOARD like if it's part of UCF's religion!

We could careless about your new stadium. Do we wish we could have an OC stadium... sure. But for now, I would rather continue playing at Ray Jay and save money for an OC stadium and go all out when the time is right.

We don't want to build a tin can of a stadium (UCF's)....

But congrats for the stadium and I hope you do get to play Texas. (Murder! How embarrassing)

You guys just don't get it, or you just don't want too.  Here is a hint, its more than a football game.  A nationally televised game on ESPN, on campus.  UCF will be able to show off what UCF is all about, not just a football game.  There will be aerial shots all game long showing the campus, new housing, new buildings, new basketball arena.  Think of it as a three hour commercial for UCF.  There is no doubt as to the beauty of UCF's campus, we are trying to show it off, not hide it.

  6. Nope.  Unless they're willing to work with a set-up that's somewhere along the lines of 2 for 1.

A good dose of winning, and annual home schedules like the one in store for 2007 and we'll do fine in attendance with or without them.

Well I can help you with this, UCF will NEVER do a 2 for 1 with USF.  As long as UCF can get 2 for 1's with the likes of Texas, Miami, VT and others, there is no reason to ever give USF a 2 for 1.  Also, UCF does not need OOC games as bad as USF.

Good luck with those 5 OOC games every year.

  7. Rule of thumb for spring games.

The defense is never as good as they looked and the offense is never as bad as it looked.

You have to remember that for fourteen practices in a row, the defense played against the offense, the players saw every look, formation and play the offense was going to run.  It's easy for a DB to jump a pass because chances are, he knows the route that will be run, or at least has a good idea at it.  DL or DE's can jump the count because they know the cadance of the QB they are playing against.

So basically, your QB's and RB's are probably better than they looked and your DB's and DL are not as good as they looked.

  8. Miami cleaned up in the off season and will be the class of the AFC East.  Culpepper with a running game will be very scary, that is something he never had in Minnesota after Robert Smith left.

If you know Daunte as a person, you know the drive he has.  He will be back better than he was.  He won't accept anything less.

  9. We had this discussion on Feb 4, which is actually where I got that graphic from.  I can't see an OCS going there, unless it's a piece of crap microscopic erector set OCS like the Knights are building.

Oh UEI, you can say what you want on this board, but there is not a bull fan out there that would not trade RJS for an on campus stadium.   That erector set you trash is better than FSU had in the late 80's and early 90's.  Its not that large of a step from building the stadium to bricking it in for class room purposes and guess what, you will pay for that, you and every other Florida tax payer.

You guys need to drop that whole University Mall dream, you could not buy that if you had Notre Dame's money.  There are at least five pieces that would need to be purchased and the largest was purchased by Rob Glimscher in 1997 for $120,890,000.  In todays money, that is over 175,000,000, now add in Macy's, Dillards and Sears, if you could convince them all to sell and you would be well over $225,000,000 before you even moved an ounce of dirt.  Now payout all those leases, the demolision and so on and your dream would cost well over $350,000,000 for an average stadium at best.
