  1. Make some noise!

The Staff of USFNation.com will be on 620 WDAE The Sports Animal, Saturday February 3rd. That's right our very own Josh Newberg and Lawrence Reid Weisbaum will be on The BLITZ with Justin Pawloski. discussing USF football and what's happening on the Bulls recruiting front.

We'll be live with Justin Pawlowski discussing  the recruits who have already committed, who we have our eyes on, surprises, biggest name coming in, who is visiting, who we are in running for and so on.

The show is being broadcast live from Boston's in North Tampa. The show runs from 12-2:30 pm, and Josh and Larry will be on around 2:00 p.m. If any of you Bull faithful want come to Boston's that be great, if not we encourage all USF fans to call in and talk Bulls recruiting!

The call in number is 1-813 832 1509.

The BLITZ with Justin Pawlowski is on 620 WDAE AM radio - The Sports Animal on the Clear Channel Network in the Tampa bay area, check local listings for other areas, or click on link below for listen via the internet.

  2. Smazza. Take a valium. We know you don't like Leavitt even though he's one of about ten people who have made USF a top school in so many areas.  All I can think of is that he wouldn't hire you to be an assistant coach so you have this personal vendetta against him.

I think you are alone in your opinion.

    Feel better soon.

  3. It's not that the interest isn't there. There's only so much time to devote to watching USF sports. I'm guessing that as Coach Fernandez continues to build his program, there will be even more wins. With that a top twenty five ranking and more butts in the seats. It will come. He's a great coach at a great school. He'll keep getting top players and top twenty five is just around the corner.

  4. JoeB. I hear what you're saying but the play was really a big nothing. I think it was the negative tone of your post and not your content. You were right in that regard. But, the last play was a big nothing.

I know, I was there (drove over from Melbourne to watch the game with my USF student son).

It was actually less than nothing. Everyone was excited and ready to cheer "the last shot". When the pass was stolen and they drove down the court to lay it in, it was as if all the air was sucked out of the Sun Dome. Everyone left there numb and speechless.

We didn't even get a chance to at least see the possible game winner in the air.

I'm looking forward to the next game I can make. The Bulls play an exciting brand of basketball and have some players who put on a great show. The wins will come.

  5. If we get the same performance the rest of the season, the victories will come. It's not the number of victories but the performance that counts at this stage of Mac's tenure.

Next year should be his true test when it comes to victories. Too bad Buckley and Mattis won't be in the lineup. The added maturity of our underclassmen and the addition of Holmes and other recruits should make up the difference.

  6. The game wasn't about the final play. It was about how well we played against a top rated team. It was about the heart this team has. It was about the talent that Mac is developing and teaching how to play well together.

There was great team play and unbelievable individual efforts, many by McHugh Mattis. That was the story.

They played unbelievably well and focusing on the last play doesn't do justice to the team and an otherwise outstanding game Chris Howard played.

  7. The Bulls will improve as the season continues. We're just now getting a semblence of a starting five and a good bench rotation. Injuries and late additions (e.g. Gransberry, Howard, etc.) have delayed this team's development.

We have talent and the chemistry is improving greatly.

We can beat Marquette and a few others in the Big East.

I predict four more Big East wins this year.

  8. Smazza's a stirrer all right. His latest post saying not to blame our recruiting class on Keely's death went way over the line.

He sounds like a Gator fan who isn't happy unless they win the national championship. If he were a Gator fan he'd probably be upset they lost to Auburn and would want to fire Urchin Meyer.

JL and his staff know talent and they know how to coach. How else do you explain this year's success (with sub 50 recruiting classes) and a very bright future with the athletes we now have.

We're young so there isn't a lot of room for many freshmen, if any, to start this year.

Our best recruiting year will be the following year after another great season, a bowl win, and more openings.

  9. Came from Melbourne and saw the game yesterday. Exciting brand of basketball. We're very fast and we can shoot. We need a little more muscle inside to help Kentrell but Mattis and Buckley need lots of minutes for us to suceed. Mac knows what he's doing and his players love him. Verdejo will be back in the starting lineup because he knows this is his best shot.

The fact is we finally have some depth and that is totally due to Mac.

We have talent and as the chemistry improves so will the scores.

We're definitely in the right direction and have things lined up for improvement as this season progresses and for the following years.
