I BOUGHT THAT MAG.
While the graphic designer of the front page probably got a demotion, "The showdown in Miami" headline likely refers to the FSU-Miami game. Was there a writeup on that?
-
In Dec., USF was right there leading for McQueen's services.
That hack Brandon Finley of FlaVarsity.com probably just edits out any mention of "South Florida" whenever recruits say they like the Bulls.
That UCF-NC State-lovin' SOB!!! **** him.

Congrats, although i didnt see the game, you guys seemed to run the ball very well? would you say your o-line has improved or was it their Dline being bad?
According to a Rivals member, a walk-on fullback has emerged: Neal Bittong. And he's a bulldozer of a blocker for freshman RB Kevin Smith, who seems to also have the starting job lon lock down now w/ two 100+ yard games.
I think one of Memphis' starting DL was suspended also.

kids coming here get much more exposure playing Louisville, Miami, WVU, Syracuse, and Rutgers year in and year out
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Miami left the Big East for the ACC. Likewise, they didn't sign a "year in and year out contract".
Congrats on the one fer one though. Just wondering, but does your admin have UM connections, cuz that really is a sweet deal for you?

Considering the article is about "Ticket Sales" for new members, I'd assume the exlusion of USF's specific numbers has little to do w/ your program's profile, but moreover that your sales are not significantly Up. It would be some pretty **** bad journalism to exclude you on purpose.
The way I read the article, the author pretty much explains WHY (he believes) your ticket are not up, like the others'.
"South Florida has a different situation, of course. Not only are the Bulls projected to finish near the bottom of the new Big East standings, the closest conference school from Tampa is Louisville. A trip of nearly 900 miles and 14 hours isn't exactly enough to call someone a regional rival.Still, officials at Cincinnati and Louisville are pleased with the way preparations for football in the Big East are coming."

(he bragged of Florida being the No.1 public institution in National Merit Scholars) is this true? hard to believe
EASY to believe.
None of you are taking into account the state of Florida's higher _population_ relative to the others -- and a majority of kids prefer to stay instate/close to home. UF is also the undisputed all-around academic king of this highly populated state. It makes perfect sense that it would have more National Merit scholars over other states' schools, like UVA and Rutgers, if simply because those states have low pops.
In the case of the state of California, in general the better students more evenly choose among the likes of UCLA, Berkley, USC, and Stanford. Each of those is known for academic excellence.

Remember Redbird is from Kentucky, I'm surprised he can use a computer.
Next weekend we'll have no time for a computer, considering the 40,000 half naked drunk females running around the Churchill Downs infield ;D

The overwhelming majority of coaches don't want the 12th game ...
Would you want work more and not get paid for it?

What all these presales may do is make a distributor more likely to put it on the shelves. Hopefully, the sales will continue strongly if and when that happens.
Congrats on the cover Bulls!
Buying online certainly can't hurt, but you'd think these distributors could come up w/ a better method of marketing research than basing it on online sales that include shipping costs. In the meantime, you guys might wanna consider contacting the USF Oracle to get the word out to students.

UCF_Cardinals...Didn't the UCF BB coach refuse to give a release to the Graham twins to come here? I seem to vaguely recall reading that before they transferred to Oklahoma State.
UCF granted the release, and they wanted to transfer to USF. Seth just wasn't willing to take Stephen.
-
They're not, but there's no rule like that anyway.
UCF's tentative 2007 OoC schedule:
@ Tennessee
@ Florida
@ Pitt
MTSU
If UCF builds the oncampus stadium, I'd expect them to drop the one-road-game Tennesse deal, in favor of adding a winnable home game. The stadium forcasts are based on 6 annual home games... we're not dropping Florida, and Pitt is giving us a home game in 2008.
But I've never heard of the no-transfer rule re OoC teams either...

Our WRs can hang w/ just about any program.
This Spring, O'Leary was quoted as saying that Moffett has grown up, and that he's actually pleased w/ him. And that's great news in my book, because I don't recall at any point last year O'Leary even remotely insinuating he was happy w/ any of the quarterbacks.
Our problem is going to be pass protection; it's still a young line. But if/when it breaks down, I still don't expect any more backwards running from Steven!

Well up here, that's the buzz... Courrier-Journal also suggests aspirations of luring the Final Four.
If this arena gets built downtown instead of at the fairgrounds, Louisville -- bar none -- will be THE best college sports town in America.
-
Trying to build one that will bring the Final Four back home, baby! From '58 to '69, Louisville hosted it 6 times. Will help pay for it, and also the home court advantage would be sweet. Out of those 6 hosts, (1.5 hours-away) Cinci and ( 1-hour away) UK each walked out as champs.

Re FSU, if I recall correctly, last Winter there was a buzz that FSU approached UCF about travelling to Tallahassee, with no return game -- and O'Leary rejected the idea.
It's not like UF is doing us any favors either. Whoop-dee-doo. So nice of them to let us travel to The Swamp TWICE, with no return game.
Miami, OTH, has been refreshingly accomodating.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Personally, I think when O'Leary claims UCF is done with scheduling 2ferNones or 1ferNones, I think it's a bit pigheaded. We should take on the Big 3 every chance we get. Just one Win could change everything.
-
As most expected, Howard was moved to DE.
-
So, which side is that has the bottomless ego??
I mean, UCF dominated the Mid-Western Conference, and we're only worried about our OoC games.
And don't ever forget: UCF 40, (3-7) Alabama 38

Good luck in the tourney. Would love to see a UL vs USF championship game.
Mind numbing UCF/USF drivel, et al

That may be your opinion, but Lane Kiffin disagrees with you. I'm sure you're all aware he once committed to Tennessee, fate would have it that Kiffin and National Power Southern Cal offered and tried to steal him. Fortunately for UCF, that was too far away from home.
