  1. While we didnt have a locked down case, we definetly should have made it over La Lafayette.....

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncw/ncaatourney07/columns/story?id=2796452

Trust me, this bracketing thing is no easy task. This season, I've been doing it for the last three months and it can be painstaking. And everyone here in bracketology land has an opinion about who should be in, where teams should be seeded and who should travel furthest from home.

Last season, the selection committee missed the boat on a few teams and a few bracketing essentials. This season, the committee hit the mark.

Of course, there are questions and I'll get to some of those, but this is a fair bracket and I don't think anyone can seriously complain. But I will … a little.

I would not have had Louisiana-Lafayette in the draw. I have nothing against the Rajun' Cajuns, but I don't feel they did more than South Florida. La.-Lafayette in and the Bulls out goes against what the committee did last year in putting Cal and Missouri in at the expense of mid-majors such as Western Kentucky and Indiana State. The Hilltoppers actually had better credentials in 2006 than Lafayette does this season.

Not that I can make an iron-clad case for South Florida. In fact, as I've been saying all season, the bottom of the at-large pool was not very good, and in all honestly, this was a tough year to fill out an entire field of 64 teams. That's why I can't quibble too much with La.-Lafayette's inclusion.......

  2. Best of luck Coach Mac.  I think this will be good for the program, but I am sad because of how outstanding of a guy RMC was. His whole family was first class and he ran his team that way.  Unortunately, that is not the only thing that counts...   I wish him and his family well!!

Lets move on and support our AD and our team.   GO BULLS!!

  3. ^Yeah that was one of the hardest parts about living in Miami.  I had all the stuff on my car, but no one understood!  lol  None of the papers ever had anything about our Bulls either.  The ONLY cool "BUll" thing that happened was the Jim Leavitt Around the Horns tour came and I got to have lunch with CJL and several area alumni!  Its the only thing that kept me going till i was able to get back to Tampa!!  :)

  4. Yes I do, and I guess it happens more than I notice now.  This guys excitement is what made it stand out I guess.  People ask me about the car all the time.  The best line is, "Did they pay you to do that?"  Thats a negative!!  lol

  5. I was driving on 275 having a particularly bad day when i hear this semi honking up a storm to the left of me.  Annoyed I look over, because I didnt do anything wrong and he was wildly waving the Bulls horns and mouthing GO BULLS!!  I grinned so big and we rode side by side up the highway, horns blaring and yelling at each other!!  The truck company was based out of alabama, but he was definetly a fan!  It made my day better and made me so proud to be a bull, even a dorky one that has stickers on her car! haha

Just thought I would share!!  :)   GO BULLS!!

  6. According to the Ledger:

Grothe To Miss USF's Spring Practice Start

Lake Gibson Product Suffered Fracture in Bowl Game

    By PAT ZIER

    Ledger Correspondent

TAMPA - Quarterback Matt Grothe, who led the University of South Florida to a 9-4 record as a redshirt freshman last season, will not be ready for spring practice, Bulls head coach Jim Leavitt said.

The Lake Gibson High product suffered a hairline fracture of his lower right leg in South Florida's 24-7 win over East Carolina during the Papajohns.com Bowl in Birmingham, Ala., on Dec. 23.

The injury is not completely healed, and Leavitt is taking no chances when spring practice opens March 20.

"He's not quite ready," Leavitt said. "We're going to take it as it goes."

Before fracturing his leg, Grothe was hampered much of the season by a foot injury suffered in the Bulls' sixth game against Connecticut. He reinjured the foot in the ninth game against Pitt.

The Sporting News named Grothe the Big East Freshman of the Year after he passed for 2,576 yards and led the Bulls in rushing with 622 yards.

Grothe is expected to be full speed by fall, but Leavitt will give backup Grant Gregory, a transfer from Indiana who played in just two games last year, a crash course in quarterbacking this spring to be prepared for any contingency.

"We've going to give Gregory a lot of reps," Leavitt said. "We've got to have somebody else ready to play. Last year, we had Pat Julmiste, and he had been our starter. Gregory is going to get a lot of work."

Carlton Hill is another possible choice at quarterback. Hill has made a verbal commitment to return to South Florida in the fall providing he is academically eligible.

Considered by most the best prospect the Bulls have ever recruited, Hill was given the quarterback job last spring after Leavitt and offensive coordinator Rod Smith went to Texas and Missouri to study offenses designed around Vince Young and Brad Smith.

But Hill ran into academic problems and transferred to Pearl River Junior College in Mississippi, opening the door for Grothe.
