  1. The foundation of the score is the average of the total offensive and total defensive rankings.

    Cal went from a root score of 18/2=9 to 22/2=11.  Then the score gets increased based on SOS and Win Ratio.

    USC went from a root score of 34/2=17 to 21/2=9.5.  That puts them at a lower root score than Cal, and their SOS and Win Ratio is better.

    Do not fear the BW Rankings.  They are your friend.   ;)

  2. My system takes into account total performance, not just single game matchups.  Cal and USC play the same Pac-10 schedule, no?  According to my rankings, Cal just had an off day when they lost to USC.

    If USC was a better team, they'd put up better numbers on the common opponents.  We shall see....  ;D
