  1. Where did the coaches that Frey and Smith are replacing go to? It may be in the articles but I missed it...

Our WR coach became Head Coach at Central Michigan.

Our OL coach/Associate HC became OL coach at FSU.

Our TE coach/recruiting coordinator became co-offensive coordinator at Tulsa.

Current QB coach/ST coordinator Bill Stewart is keeping the ST duties, plus he'll coach TE's and become Associate HC.

Cornerback coach adding recruiting coordinator duties.

Still need a WR coach. We've reportedly offered an awesome coach/recruiter but he might end up on the new Steelers staff.

  2. Mince...

I agree that WVU is good, but they are also a little lucky.  Sure White is 20 for 27 for 243 yards - in THREE games.  There are QB's who do that in one game.

But they are also +6 in turnover margin, Maryland only had 50 total yards less for the game.  They commit 8 penalties per game.  Against Marshall, Eastern Washington, and Maryland - not exactly powerhouses - they've allowed 352 yards rushing on 88 carries - for an average of 4 yards per carry.

I'm not saying it's going to happen... I'm saying it could happen.

    West Virginia Turnover Margins

    2002: +19

    2003: +18

    2004: +4

    2005: +14

I'm inclined to think it's more coaching than luck.

  3. All bowls will adhere to the conference's "one-win" rule whether they select a BIG EAST team or Notre Dame. Any selection of a team with fewer victories must be within one win of all other bowl eligible teams. League squads must be within one conference victory. For example, a team with a 4-3 BIG EAST record cannot be chosen before a team with a 6-1 league mark. Overall records are used for comparison when a bowl is considering Notre Dame in conjunction with a conference team.

  4. Why the heck would Penn St move conferences the Big 10 is a 100 times better than the big East  you would rather play UCONN, Rutgers, and Cincy then Ohio St, Michigan, Wisconsin, Get Real.  In Fact if USF could jump ship to the Big Ten I would say when does the train leave.

Penn St. won't move, but they were much more successful as an eastern independent playing schools that are now in the Big East than they have been as a Big 10 member.

  5. So, is the Rutgers game televised outside of the Tampa area, or is this question just going to draw the ire of JimSig because I'd rather ask a question than browse thru ten different threads?
