  1. Good read on the timeline of events for the Pac-12 with some anonymous "true" insiders.

What stood out is the Pac-12 had a few times to save itself but priced itself to high during media negotiations, USC blocking expansion with the Big 12 to then leave soon after and the Apple deal having an out clause after 2 years if things didn't work out

How did the Pac-12 die? These surprising decisions by USC, Oregon, Washington and...

Maybe it's Stockholm Syndrome or depression, but after staring at the East/West breakdown of AAC 2.0, I like this conference. I mean, it's not that my not liking it will change anything. But, seriously, I think I legitimately like this thing. I just want to see us win. There are some familiar faces there, some teams we definitely should (please god!) handle with ease, and a pretty decent path to some divisional and conference titles, bowl games, maybe a NY6 game, etc. And we still have room to work some OOC magic.

While I agree with the (hopefully) easy and descent path to some titles, we should never be comfortable with our current state of the football program or with this new league. We have shown glimpses of our potential from an on the field perspective and in the stands with some descent numbers in attendance. We have a lot of work to but, again, we should never feel complacent with our current situation. Let's have fun with the bigger chick but, let's ditch her when the hot one comes along.

  3. I read (quickly) through his Twitter feed and didn’t see anything bad, negative or argumentative. He’s showing support for his colleague and our school.

No need to criticize him for these things or tell him he doesn’t know about running a NCAA team(in the case football). At the end of the day, at its basic level, all college sports are the same thing, motivate young athletes to perform their best on and off the field

  4. Given the fact that student athletes can profit from their likeness, would we consider redirecting potential stadium funds to "pay" for 4 star players to come play for USF? If we view USF as a brand, increasing the performance level of our team will enhance our brand and could potentially generate additional funds while still playing at Raymond James and focusing on sell outs (WVU). In this scenario I'm assuming we are selected for the Big12

I don’t think they’re as arrogant as they seem. Remember that they are a church school and won’t compromise core beliefs (not playing on Sundays, etc.), also, football is not a main priority for them; which is why they went independent (national championships are nice but not critical). With that being said, their fan base is so large that BYUTV supplies enough money that they don’t NEED a conference; the B12 needs them more than they need the B12. So if that is the case, wouldn’t you be picky too?

Why would the BIG12 commit the same mistake again with BYU regarding television rights? This is a short term fix and not a very will thought out one. It will come back to bite them in the ass.

Having witnessed the replies to this expansion thread for some time, a serious question constantly comes to my mind.  Notwithstanding the ‘OCS’ and a recent ‘winning percentage’, what specifically are people referencing when they claim that UCF has ‘surpassed’ the USF football program in attractiveness to a P5 suitor?  While I recognize our recent failures on the field, what exactly distinguishes UCF over USF as being a potentially better candidate for P5 expansion?  I see people write this endlessly on this board, but in truth, I’ve missed the specifics?  Is it season ticket holders?  An actual, objectively larger and measurable fan base?  An OCS?  Athletic budget?  Team revenues?  Can anyone offer specifics, or are there any any I stead people are relying on recent perception based on recent winning percentage.  Serious question.

I for one agree with this, what does UCF have that puts it miles ahead of USF? both programs attract a large audience when they are doing good, and when they are not, no one pays attention to them. UCF right now is on the upswing at the right time, it's luck. If UCF does get picked, so be it. Although I won't be able to talk about competitive USF football anymore, USF has other great sports to support and more importantly, we continue on the right path to AAU with a big endowment and research programs. Also, count me in as someone that never understood the forced rivalry with UCF. Of all the schools that are rumored to leave, Cinci is the one that irks me the most. They've been with us since the C-USA days and (supposedly) are getting ready to surpass us, just like Louisville did with the ACC.

  7. I'm starting a new topic on this because:

    a) We are playing louisville

    B) I'm tired of UCF and others making this into a

       UCF "rivalry" thread.

Now, my purpose of this thread, IF we beat louisville they will end up hating us that much more. We, knocked them out of national title contention and if we take this basketball game they are NIT bound and missing the Big East tourny! that's a rivalry!!!

  8. As long as it's YOUR observation, i'm fine. According to College Football news, top 10 games for the Big East:

    Top Ten Games

    1. West Virginia at Louisville, Nov 2

    2. Miami at Louisville, Sept. 16

    3. West Virginia at Pitt, Nov. 16

    4. Louisville at Pitt, Nov. 25

    5. Rutgers at West Virginia, Dec. 2

    6. Louisville at Rutgers, Nov. 9

    7. South Florida at Louisville, Nov. 18

    8. West Virginia at Connecticut, Oct. 20

    9. South Florida at West Virginia, Nov. 25

    10. Rutgers at Pitt, Oct. 21

Seems like they also looked at out of conference schedule, funny, I see USF at WVU and look, USF at Louisville. Is it me, or is the name Louisville being mentioned a lot with USF?

  9. The last comment just pissed me off, if they were more jacked up about UCF, there is a HUGE problem with our players. They need to let HS go and get their heads into COLLEGE. loosing to UCF has NO bearing in winning the Big East and going to a BCS game while loosing to a Pitt and L-ville have huge implications. Obviously, the need to get up for ALL games but, more so for Big East RIVALS....NOT UCF. Message board banter does not speak for a 40,000 student population and alumni!

  10. Yes, there are no moral victories but, last night these guys hussled and played with intensity and passion. WVU may not be a physical team but they have proven with good fundamentals they can beat anyone (The OU game, an absolute clinic and what about Nova?). I think last night's game proves that Mac is a coach but, not a recruiter. He needs to surround himself by people who can recruit. We are literally playing with only 4 players on the court, our players are very hesitant on passing the rock to Capko once on the other side of the court, and with reason! Our basketball situation is somewhat like our football in that both sports lack a descent athlete in a very important position. With a descent PG we could possibly see some upsets. Finally, I don't mind loosing as long as they leave it all on the court, what the hell happen with Bethun Cookman?

  11. Velcro, It seems like you and I went to USF roughly the same time. I would have to say basketball support was above average. I remember waiting in lines for basketball, albiet ESPN broadcast games. I remember one Dodge shoot out that was packed, it was the time a friend of mine made the half court shot and won the Durango, crowd went nuts. In any case, support for the program was much better then it is right now. Whatever happen to the "You Still Suck!" chant? I actually enjoyed screaming that even if we were loosing.
