  1. If Vandy is the best for him, then that is great and I hope he does well.  But toying with the hometown fans, putting on the USF hat, and then switching - that's not funny and is bound to upset some hometown folks.  I guess I'm disappointed in that since he's such a smart kid.

Best of luck to him at Vandy though.

  2. everyone wants to piss and moan about our Basketball coach but we have one of the best college coaches around on our staff.....and probably one of the front runners to take over for Torre (you think im kidding...i'm not)

support this baseball team. Joe B has done everything he can to fire you guys up and there is minimal response.

Joe,    ill be there on friday vs West Va.  let me buy you a beer afterwards. at the clubhouse.  anyone else want to join us we can make it a pitcher.  lets go BULLS

I follow and appreciate JoeB's posts.  I just don't respond much.  That doesn't mean it's not appreciated.  But you are right, it won't hurt to give the Team some props.  I'm more excited about USF baseball than I have been in years, and Lelo will get them to the CWS.  If not this year, then soon.

  3. The main reason USF has a good chance to beat Auburn is USF returns all starters on both O and D Line and Auburn only returns 2 or 3 at the most combined.

Also, USF D should be good enough to keep the game close no matter what.  Homer refs and turnovers are my biggest concerns.  A win against Auburn and SEC will be the signature win for USF program.  This game is huge!

By the way, an earlier poster said we played Oklahoma St - he meant Oklahoma.

  4. Joe, mark my words UNC goes bowling next year.  Last year Bunting lost his team before the season started.  He was not a very strong coach, and had trouble getting his kids to respond.  Butch is chalked full of talent up there, Joe Dailey, Calvin Darity, Barrington Edwards, Richie Rich, Cam Thomas, Durrell Mapp, Jesse Holley, Trimane Goddard...no it won't take much for a good coach to tweak and refine and motivate and UNC will be winning some ball games.

I think there is a very real possibility they will be 3-0 heading into the game against us.  That will be no push over, because they'll play hard, and they'll play fast like any Butch Davis team would do.

I am very familiar with UNC, if you check threads before our game last season I mentiond how bad Bunting was and how the team check out on him in 2005.

I think Butch will be great for the program, I just think it will take a season or two, it's not the talent that Butch had when he was with Miami. Dailey has proven to have the inconsistencies that he had at Nebraska. Add on top of that their schedule is brutal on them they go; Virginia, @ USF, @ Va Tech, Miami, South Carolina, @ Wake Forest, & Maryland in the middle of the season.

They have talent, but a lot of it is young, I don't think a bowl game is out of their reach, but I also cannot in my heart say that they will be a definitive bowl team especially since they've only been to 2 in the last 8 seasons.

Butch Davis will have them playing hard, and I think that program has a great future in his hands.

The difference is they have elite talent Joe which can make turnarounds much easier and quicker then most imagine.  They landed three five star recruits that by most accounts should be immediate impact guys.  Joe Dailey was inconsistent but that was because their staff was that way, they'd yank him at the drop of a hat.  Butch did a lot with a little during his time at UM in the early going.  Don't forget he got a team on probation and immediately turned them into winners.  They're going to be a much better team next year because they'll be well coached and it will allow that elite talent the opportunity to succeed.

UNC scares me in many ways because they possess so many weapons that were not utilized properly.  Hell, I felt against UNC that if Bunting stuck to the run in the early going he would have had a chance to win.  I still think that team finishes with 6-7 wins and makes a bowl.  The goal is to make sure we're not one of those victims.

Bien is absolutely right.  I was watching the UNC-USF game last year saying that if UNC just pounds the run, they will win this game.  They made a TON of mistakes in that game and really gave it away more than USF winning it.

Bunting was terrible, and you will see how quickly this program turns around with Davis.  UNC has talent, and good coaching will make an immediate impact.

However, with the game at USF this year, and with the progress the team made last year, I still expect a win for the Bulls.

  5. Lelo has me fired up!  No doubt he will get this team to Omaha one day.

The sense of pride he is building in the kids and the program is invaluable.  The attention to detail is what makes champions.  With Tino and Lazer on board, you can already see the recruiting inroads.

Awesome stuff is happening here at USF!

  6. I'm not saying the OOC schedule is the best in the country, but there is progress.  A win over Wake, a couple of conference wins, a near upset of a top 20 team.  None of that would have happened last year.

Some of y'all have such a dislike for Mac that you can't look at things objectively.  It isn't going to happen overnight.  Especially with all the other well documented stuff Mac had to deal with.  Look for continuous improvement, not instant results.

I don't wanna feed the MAC lovers, but we beat a top 25 team Georgetown (and this year Wake is 10-11, not a good team at all) and almost beat #4 Villanova.

Listen, I cannot stand these antiMac arguments because they are redundant. However, what some coach says about the program is just being nice.

Last night Calipari said UCf was on their way to being great...do you honestly believe that they are the next great CUSA basketball power?

Sure, sometimes there is coachspeak. Crean's comments were not.  His comments were out of admiration for what Mac has done after barely escaping with a win.  And they were unsolicited.

What's more important to me anyway is what I see rather than what some coach says.  Crean simply confirmed my observations.
