Gus Malzahn: UCF may have struck gold with ex Auburn coach - Sports Illustrated
If the former Auburn coach succeeds big in Orlando, the Tigers (and Tennessee) will be sure to notice.UCF and Malzahn could be beautiful together, a marriage of proven winners who just need the right opportunity to do even more than they already have. UCF has gone undefeated and won a New Year's Six bowl within the last five years; Malzahn has played for a national championship within the last 10. There has been some backsliding since then, but joining forces might bring out the best in both.

For all intents and purposes he didn't win 1 freakin game! Pathetic under any circumstances

You made a typo. You meant abysmal C defense.
I can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt UCFs defense which had 6 opt outs and 4 more kicked off the team for disciplinary reasons was beyond abysmal.......Walk ons were playing in the secondary at the end of the year.........bottom line, McCloud is not anywhere close to as good as he played in that game

My guess is that this has more to do with CJS than MK
Nebraska did the same thing with Scott Frost and I am pretty sure that I remember Frost stating that he wanted to coach UCF in the Peach Bowl
Either way, it is a good move for USF - having your head coach recruiting, while winning a championship, is a pretty good sell for 18 year olds looking to come to Tampa
Yes classy move....Helped UCF go undefeated.....maybe some day we can also

I hope your right. But on paper right now its not going to be that easy. FAU has a good team. Right now we dont, until we do. FAU has traditionally been a very tough game for us, even in our good years.....they will be up for this one in their house. Hope we bring a large contingent.
It should be a close game but we should win........UCF curb stomped them by 34 but only beat us by 27

Think they have sold out(30,000+) twice, UCF and UM.
Each time a boat load of visiting fans......

Probably a tad bit easier to recruit to Clemson than here.................

This is the real BS!
If this team hits another down cycle now, with UCF having broken away from the pack and achieved national relevance, USF is likely to find itself slipping more to the level of a Florida Atlantic or Florida International than a contending team in the AAC.

I had hoped for some portal talk. Thank you.
The entire Alabama team could transfer to USF and we would still suck with this coaching staff!

How about you directly acknowledge my arguments instead of ignoring my points:
2 winning programs greatly regressed under Strong in the past 6 years.
Charlie lacks an understanding of modern college offenses.
He lacks guts on the field and charisma at the podium.
BINGO!

Well.. What about some former USF players who were coached by Leavitt or Burnham. Or someone who still lives in Tampa like Derrick Brooks?
would that be the Derrick Brooks that is a Florida State alumni????

You cannot argue with the FACTS CCS is a losing coach besides a championship caliber team he inherited. He coached them terribly they under achieved and did worse then the prevision season.
Problem is we have zero championships..............

So we think CJS was a good hire because he was a co coordinator.......Did he ever call any plays? is he qualified to build a program? or is this just an OJT experience for him?
