The motoring around w/out legs moving seems like something that a pee wee football team would do.  If they had it on the sideline somewhere and the eyes lit up red, smoke came out, and the camera showed it after a touchdown that might be kinda cool.  More like a statue though.

I agree with this. It looks cool and would look good stationary. Light the eyes up and smoke the nostrils after TDs. I'd rather it not move.

  2. 1. The road trip to Notre Dame. I almost lost my ticket during the tailgate. I slept (passed out) for an hour and a half on the floor in the concourse during the storm delay. Brian Kelly's face turned a shade of red/purple I've never seen before....Great trip.

    2. I'd feel great if Barnett just lights it up. Most important position on the field. If he looks great, I'll feel great.

    3. Green pants, green jersey, gold helmet

    4. 25k....if it's a constant stormy night then 20k

    5. Chasing my twin 1 year old boys around the parking lot of Ray Jay. Hopefully have a beer or two in between.

  3. I’m going to the game Saturday but I usually like to record the game at home so I can rewatch afterwards. I feel like you can  miss a lot of the details when you’re there in person. Also this is the first game I’m taking my twin 1 year olds to, so I’ll be lucky if we make it until the 3rd quarter.

Is the game on local TV so I can record it, or is it on espn3 only? Or is there a way you can watch a game on espn3 after that game has already happened and isn’t live?

Because college football is a zero sum game and for us to be successful other have to fail, I would imagine. If FSU, Florida, Miami, UCF, FAU and FIU are all successful that would more than likely have us being less successful than we would be had they all failed.

I agree with this 100%. I root against all Florida teams (some more than others) I want us to be the best in the state.  We owe Taggart nothing. A few solid seasons, but 0 conference championships. Bolts at the first opportunity. Him being at FSU (who I didn't like in the first place) isn't gonna make me all of a sudden wish them success.

  5. Wow we have a lot of strong feeling about CWT around here. When it comes to Taggart I feel like most USF fans are either on one extreme side of the spectrum or the other. Some love him, talk about how great he is, wish he never left, and almost put him on a pedestal. Others give him very little credit and give it all to Flowers. I'm definitely somewhere in the middle on CWT.

I'll always be grateful that he came in and put the program back on the map. He is a phenomenal recruiter and he loaded us with talent, and fast. With that being said, we underachieved as a team during his last year here. Yes we won 10- games. We still underachieved. That team was loaded and should have won a conference championship. We had no business losing to Temple (who was good, but not on our level.) Flowers, Mack, Adams, MVS Johnson, Mccants. That offense was loaded! But CWT put someone who had no business being a DC in charge of the defense, and it cost us. Years like that don't come around often, you have to take advantage of them when they do. As much as I hate the orlando school, when they have years where they have a shot to win the conference they finish the job. We can't seem to do that. 2016 should have been our year. (2018 too, but that's a different story)

I'm also not a fan of CWT's comments on USF, ever... Not even just these specific ones. It seems whenever I read about him saying anything about USF it always has a negative undertone. It's not like he was fired, he left us. So I never get the comments.

So I'm thankful for his time here, but he's gone and that's that. I don't like him enough to all of a sudden root for FSU to have success just cause he's there. I don't like the Noles. The only team I care about is the Bulls.

People need to be careful about thinking like this.  Elon finished the season 11th in the FCS.  That's better than Stony Brook who was in the 20's......  If we come with the same game plan we did last season it could be another uncomfortable Saturday.....

Well that's why I said "on paper." Obviously i know we can blow the game, or win in a really close and ugly fashion. Nothing would surprise me at this point.

  7. Whether or not it's announced, I really hope the coaching staff can pick a QB1 after this scrimmage. We're 10 days away from the regular season. Even though our first opponent shouldn't be a very tough game (on paper at least) it's still important for our quarterback to build chemistry with the o-line and receivers he'll be working with. If we're splitting first team reps three ways than our starter will have a third less practice reps than that of  a regular starting QB. Chemistry is big with a quarterback. Plus I also believe that the team should know who's going to be leading them.... I'm all for competition but they had plenty of time to compete for the spot. They had all camp and CO and BK had all spring as well. Time to pick a guy.

And I don't think hiding the starter from Georgia Tech is all that important. There is very little game film on Barnett and Kean and none on Oladokun. What are they gonna do? Look up their high school highlights to prepare for them? I'm sure all three will play vs Elon regardless of who starts, so that will be the only real film GT sees on them. So I don't see a problem with us announcing who wins the job.

We'll see. The season is just 10 days away I'm ready to go!

  8. I agree. No excuse for this....does anyone know who our special teams coach is? Last year we had the worst collective special teams unit that I've ever seen at any level of football. And it doesn't sound much different yet. Special teams played a huge role in both of our losses last year. What is it gonna take to finally make a change?

  9. Since the biggest story line in camp is the quarterback battle, let's play a game. List who you want to win the job and also who you think will win the job. With camp being closed to public, we're all pretty much in the dark as far as how they're all actually looking. Now the original starter can easily play bad and get benched for the next guy in line, but this game is for the man who will start the season as QB1..... Unless one of you guys have somebody who's "in the know" with the program, it's all pretty much guesses and speculation, and it's all for fun.

Want: I'm a sucker for potential. If Barnett can start a game for Alabama then he obviously has an elite skill set. Transfers can either be big hits or big misses, but I just feel our ceiling is way higher with a good Barnett as opposed to a good Kean or a good Oladokun. But what do I know? Pick: Barnett

Think: I was originally thinking Barnett. The little we've heard from camp has been good and I figured the coaches wouldn't bring him in unless they thought they needed him. My second guess would have been Oladokun, followed by Kean. But then last night I was thrown for a loop. I saw on Twitter Colin Sherwin say he thinks Kean will win the job, based on something he heard from someone else. Now I know that's a lot of "he said, she said," but I know Colin knows a lot more people who are close to the program then I do, so his guess carries weight in my mind. Pick: Kean

  10. Now I wonder how short of a leash will the starter have once he wins the job? By all accounts it seems to be a very close race. It probably won't be an issue vs Elon but what if the starter has a bad first quarter or first half vs Georgia Tech and we fall behind. I wonder if Strong will roll with him or try someone else.

There is plenty to look forward to this year and in the coming years.

Season ticket sales are up over last year already and we still have 3 weeks left to sell more. The 2 days of the current week have produced over 160 season tickets sold.

That's awesome! And I'd imagine the season ticket sales will continue to rise in the coming years with the OOC games we have coming up like Wisconsin, BYU, Texas, Florida, Louisville... Hopefully Kelly can continue to add more "big name" teams to come to Tampa in the coming years.

Then it's just up to the team to continue to get better and win a few of those games.

  12. Does anybody have any inside info on how the gear sale will be with this years Fan Fest? The email says "Adidas gear sale" but I know the big draw with the gear sales in the past was how cheap everything was. They just had that huge gear sale getting rid of all their UA stuff for really cheap, but I can't imagine them having enough Adidas gear already to sell it at such a discount, as most past gear sales seems to have been the extra stuff that was left over from the athletes. Will this just be USF Adidas gear sold at full price?
