Every school except USF can do it. We are the poorest university in the country and normal rules don’t apply to us.

A red seated stadium with a pirate ship in the end zone that’s 20 minutes off campus is the ultimate college experience. You know that!

Other schools want to emulate US.

Rumor has it, and this is just a rumor of course....but I heard that UF is going to blow up the Swamp and build a newer stadium in Ocala. It’s going to have full liquor, a killer club level, a massive Jumbotron and multi-colored seats. It’s going to be awesome!

Since you are someone who has for years offered astute and sometimes provocative opinions, I am curious about yours as far as attendance at the games.  UCF's attendance has fluctuated but it is easy to see why.  The more they win, the more fans they have attend. When they lose, the stay home.   USF , on the other hand,  had the issue of conference realignment and bad seasons happening at once.  If you take out this latest bad streak, USF has been winning but the fans  have not returned.  Do you really think an on campus stadium will bring back those fans who have left?  Any ideas as to why they have not returned?   I am sure there will be some who would attend out of curiosity but do not think the majority of those fans we have lost will return as long as USF is on the outside looking in.  So a smaller, more intimate stadium probably would be best.

I doubt very seriously that anyone thinks a new stadium is a panacea for all that ails us.  But, it is a significant piece of the puzzle.  It’s a colossal statement that the university is invested in football.  We have seen what the momentum has done for UCF — and a huge part of that was the investment in a stadium.

    35,000 seats would be perfect.

With what money are we going to build this stadium?

Honestly, we ought to just fold the entire football program.  Any university that cannot establish / build / and complete the fund needed for a stadium in 20+ years either sucks worse than we even realize or has no real commitment to said football program.

Take your pick — both scenarios are pathetic.

We could certainly have both. But his request was for 19 MORE important things.

UCF built their stadium and watched all those pieces fall into place shortly thereafter.  It’s amazing what making an investment like that in your football program can do to energize your fan base / boosters / students / athletes.

What we’ve elected to do (i.e. sit on our rear ends and act like we are better than UCF and brag about playing in a rent-a-stadium) is never going to enable us to keep up with the furiously paced arms race of college football.

  5. Hilarious.  Are Bulls fans still going to be bringing up the WVU game as evidence that we don’t need our own stadium 100 years from now?

”Well, back when my great-great-grandparents were students at USF, there was this one game against WVU that was really loud and awesome.   Ergo, no on-campus stadium is needed.”

    What a joke.

Anyone who slams UCF, their program, their stadium, etc. is quite obviously a petty and jealous human being.  They are 20 times the quality of what we are in just about every way at this stage— and it’s the same small-minded thinking that some here display that has gotten us to this point of being UCF’s dimwitted loser cousin.

    Grow up.
