How in the hell do all these other schools pay for their stadiums?

They do so by refusing to be short-sighted imbeciles who actually believe their own bullcrap propaganda.  They refuse to be victims of paralysis by analysis.  They get off their rear ends and do something instead of rehashing the same crap and excuses in “feasibility studies.”

Got news for you, guys: An FBS football program that refuses to be competitive in investments with its peers is not feasible.

Yawn back at you.  Give Michael Kelly a call and offer a million dollars if he starts the fund.  See what his response is.  If he turns you down THEN you can pee and moan.  Even better, offer it for the IPF.  Everyone wants a stadium and no one wants to pay for it.  Bravo.

So you are telling me you actually believe the COLOSSAL organization known as the University of South Florida is waiting on a middle class family like mine to start the OCS fund?

Surely you cannot actually believe that.  Surely you are just making the same tired and illogical response as the rest of the USF apologists.

How much have you called up to offer?  Just wondering.

    Yawn

Such a predictable and irrelevant rebuttal.  Even though it’s none of your business, I would be happy to contribute generously IF A FUND WERE  EVER ESTABLISHED.  I think a lot of people would, but the USF decision makers are still sitting around like dingbats thinking the status quo is just peachy.

I, for one, would like for our school not to go deep into debt to satisfy the whims of fans that want a, "better game day experience".

Ha-ha!  Where is any athletic program without fans and boosters??  Hilarious.

If the fans and boosters want a better game day experience, you’d better find a way to give it to them — otherwise, you have no way to sustain your program.

Instead of them dropping football you could just not follow it anymore if it bothers you that much.  You may want to see someone about your anger issues.

I, for one, would like for our school not to go deep into debt to satisfy the whims of fans that want a, "better game day experience".  An OCS will be built when USF deems the amount of possible debt is serviceable.

Anger?  Ha!  Nice try.  It’s disgust and apathy.  Anger went bye-bye a long time ago.

My passion for this football program is waning — just the same as many others I have heard from.  I have become more of a fan of college football in general and less of a fan of USF.  That would change if I saw a level of investment from the university more in line with what FBS membership actually demands.  I’m sure there are many thousands more out there who feel the same.

And by the way, there is never going to be a time where the debt service was more manageable than where we were a few years ago.  Yet another blown opportunity.  The brilliant Doug Woodard, ladies and gentlemen!

Other universities have made it happen one way or another.  Again, USF could have been fundraising for a stadium for 22 years and probably had more than enough cash in the bank to get the thing done with relatively little debt.  But, no — let’s rent from Daddy Glazer and act like we have a legitimate game day experience.

    What a disgrace.

In every way ... UCF > USF

I just listed what FBS schools play in an NFL stadium.  Miami has never played in an OCS and currently play further away from their campus than we do.  Also, UCF would probably still be playing in the Citrus Bowl if they hadn't been kicked out for the renovations.

    There’s that USiF again.

Listen, I’m fine with our fans making lame excuses and empty justifications for why we play in a stupid rent-a-stadium with zero atmosphere.  What i’m not fine with is the people with the power to do something about it making those same short-sighted and lame excuses.  I truly wish they would just drop the football program if it’s not important enough to make the necessary investment.

How many FBS schools play in the same town as an NFL stadium? Us, Pitt, Temple, San Diego State, and Miami all play in NFL stadiums.  USC has shared and temporarily shares an off-campus stadium with an NFL team.  Georgia State played in the Falcons Stadium until they received the Braves old stadium.  A vast majority of FBS schools don't have that as an option.

On your last point, you don't know what our recruiting would be like compared to what it is with an OCS vs. playing at Ray Jay, so we can only go by what recruits have said.  Playing in an 2/3 or even 1/2 empty stadium sucks regardless of where it is located.

Temple is preparing to break ground on their own stadium.  SDSU is a terrible example to use as an argument.  I lived in San Diego for four years and went to a few games.  Same bullcrap faux college football atmosphere as we have, and it’s the same thing that has held their program back for decades.  The programs that do have the option to do what we do and DO NOT are the smart ones.  And there are many, many more that you did not list who could and choose not to do so.

You need a big bag of lemons to make lemonade...USF’s bag is very very tiny.

An OCS isn’t the magic genie you seem to think it will be.

You’re right.  That’s why a HUGE number of schools (at all levels of college football) have either constructed a new OCS or have dumped colossal money into improving/ expanding their existing OCS over the two decades during which USF has sat around thinking we are clever for playing in a 2/3 empty sterile pro stadium with zero atmosphere.

Odds are USF is right and everyone else is wrong.

It’s a recruiting tool, right?  That’s why we have been forced to start a defensive lineman at linebacker this season, right?  That red-seated recruiting tool is working wonders!  Must be that freaking awesome pirate ship.

Sorry Turd...USF Athletics doesn’t have the level of monetary support of those programs, besides how could they spend millions on upgrades to an OCS they don’t have?

They’ve had more than 20 years to accumulate the funds necessary.  And here we are without the first frigging dollar to get the thing started.  USF should really just fold the football program if they want to invest in it like an NAIA program while competing in the FBS.

Washington is located just 6 miles from the Seahawks NFL Stadium yet they choose to spend almost $300 Million to UPGRADE their college stadium.

Same thing USC is doing as they are spending $300 Million to upgrade the LA Coliseum that they own now instead of playing in the new $1.5 Billion NFL Stadium that will be located just 7 miles away.

Houston built a new 40,000 seat on-campus stadium instead of moving to the beautiful NFL Stadium just 3 miles away.

Ga Tech continues to upgrade their historic stadium vs move to the $1 Billion plus Mercedes Benz Stadium just a few miles away. (Heck, Ga State moved out of the "old NFL Dome" and instead of moving to the new NFL dome, decided to renovate old Turner Field instead).

Cincinnati spent almost $100 Million upgrading their on-campus stadium instead of moving to the very modern NFL Stadium for the Bengals just a stones throw away.

Stanford and Cal both spent Hundreds of Millions of $$$ to upgrade their on-campus Stadiums instead of joining the 49ers in their new one.

Heck, its funny because usf fans mention this stadium more than most but Univ of Minnesota moved OUT of a NFL Stadium and turned down an offer to join their new one...and instead they built a beautiful $280 Million on-campus stadium instead.

Weird...all of those college teams spent billions on their one stadiums, even though they have a NFL Stadium nearby....so maybe those schools KNOW something about the long-term impact that on-campus football means to their student body, alumni and maybe more important, FUTURE student body and future alumni.

    Game, set, and match

  11. I’ll just come right out and say it:

This thread contains some of the most desperate and embarrassing straw-grasping I have ever witnessed as a fan of sports.  This thread makes me ashamed to be a Bulls fan right now.  I can only hope these are the thoughts of a ridiculously vocal few Bulls fans and not the thoughts of many.

    Downright pathetic

I've posted a variety of links in the past that show that an OCS does not increase attendance.  When UCF was losing, their brand new OCS was fairly empty.  Now that they're winning, the stadium gets packed.  Just my opinion, but if USF had the same success the past few years, Ray Jay would be packed

    Proof of that?

And, even if that were true, the gameday atmosphere at the Glazers’ house absolutely sucks.
