I don't really have a beef in this, because I think this whole thread is a sign that men have strange conversations when we don't have football to talk about. But one thing I do know, is being brand new to a message board and typing in all caps is a sure fire way to get everyone to hate you.

I don't care if people dislike me. I love USF. I love the football program. But how anyone can blame a reporter for something a school did wrong is beyond me.

Bianchi wouldn't have posted it in the first place. That argument is invalid. Some people are actually elevating the schools they cover!

Also, Joey get a better screen name. I know you like to be cheeky but BullsandBills? You couldn't come up with anything better than that?

    Your logic:

"DARN THAT JOEY KNIGHT, NEVER GIVING US ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THE BIG 12!"

*Submits FOI request, gives fans the information they've been seeking*

"WHAT?! USF ATHLETICS MADE A SPELLING ERROR ON A DOCUMENT THAT COULD AFFECT THE NEXT DECADE OF THE PROGRAM?! IT CAN'T BE THEIR FAULT! DARN THAT JOEY KNIGHT FOR NOT PROOF-READING A DOCUMENT HE DIDN'T WRITE AND NOT CATCHING IT"

Here's the bottom line: It's USF's fault for releasing the incorrect document. Unfortunately for Joey, he was the one who simply shared the information he received ASAP.

It's not Joey's job to proof-read the publication. And no where in his initial tweet did he point out or make any reference to the typo.

Stop blaming Joey, as he did nothing wrong.

If any Bulls sportsfan should be pissed at someone, it should be Fennelly.

JK could be handing out $100 bills at the entrance to Raymond James Stadium and people would complain they're not getting two $50s.

The difference is it wouldn't happen at UCF because Orlando reporters can see the value in reporting the positives and not harping on the negatives. This University has been through it all lately. Admin calmly lead us back after the states attempted budget slashing fiasco. Now the state looks like an idiot having to mark USF as an emerging preeminent university. Fools conjuring up a no story on a spelling mistake will not lead her off course. I could take a week and find mistakes in documents from probably every expansion candidate and current P5 member, however that's not my MO.

Pretty much done with this thread. It'll be funny to read though. I think you have some work to do JK. Time to go write a story about how rude and crude TBP members are :roflmao::applause:

Yes, Joey Knight sure is one negative guy.

Look at you focusing on the Negatives. We are weak in Men's Basketball and Women's Volleyball right now...that's about it. But you might want to come with some a little less obvious next time.

Then again just realized you're a Bills fan. Its been a rough life, please clam down.

I'm just saying the man doesn't deserve to be treated this poorly over something that he didn't do. Blame Judy, Mark Harlan and the board of trustees. They signed off on the document. Someone should have caught it before they delivered it to the hands of the Times. If UCF made this error, you wouldn't be foaming at the mouth about Bianchi or someone at the OS. You would be laughing at UCF itself.

Maybe if they provided decent coverage he wouldn't be thrown under the bus. Quite frankly USF would be better off without them and providing all of its own coverage. Plenty of positives to talk about at USF, it's not our fault the TBT and it's reporters decide to focus on the negatives. Open your eyes and look around the University and it's athletic programs. If you can't see the positive vibes...then you must be walking around trying to only see the negatives.

Yeah that 7-24 men's basketball program sure is on its way.

Question:  who tweeted the viral picture of the misspelling that found its way to ESPN and other news outlets?  Pretty sure that was Joey.  IMO, the correct and professional thing to do would have been to contact the communications office and let them know, or at least not FOCUS on the misspell.  This is a pretty big deal.

I'm not coming out and saying he hates USF, but I'm sure he's a nice guy when you meet him the ONE time like you apparently did.  I'm also sure that he's not going to share an anti-USF sentiment with some random Joe he meets, especially one who's at a USF practice watching as a USF fan.  You haven't really proved anything anyone's said about his attitude toward USF with this post, and I definitely feel you need to rethink the way you came across on your first post.

Why should I thank him for doing his job, especially in what I consider an unprofessional manner by putting my alma mater in position to be viewed in a negative light?

Overall, I think this is the dumbest thing in the world to get panties in a wad over, but let's remember that this whole brouhaha happened because JK chose to focus on a misspelling in his tweet and that became useful fodder for morons like Brett McMurphy and Jake Trotter at ESPN.  It sure would have been nice for him to let his source know that there was a misspelling in the copy before releasing it, or just releasing the whole thing without focusing on the error.  But scooping > journalistic integrity these days.  Maybe this is why USF "treats the media" poorly these days, because reporters like Knight can't be trusted to be fair to USF.  If anyone deserves anything, I'd say JK should be barred from ever walking through the doorways of the athletic department again.  But I'll bet USF won't do that, and they'll rise above that.  And they'll deserve mad props if they do that.

HE SAID HIMSELF HE DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE OR POINT OUT THERE WAS A MISSPELLING UNTIL PEOPLE COMMENTING ON TWITTER POINTED IT OUT. CAN YOU NOT READ? HOW IS ANY OF THIS HIS FAULT? USF SHOULD HAVE PROOFREAD AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN BEFORE SENDING THAT MATERIAL OUT.

  8. I'm glad to be here. Been reading here for years and following Brad on Twitter and thought I would join. When you think about it, Apis, what positives have there been to write about? I wasn't a fan of the column either but for the last three months there havent been many positives to write about USF. If we can't get into the Big 12, it will be our own fault. People who use the media as a scapegoat are no better than the dolts that nominated Trump.

EDIT: Mentioning Knight, I saw someone that claimed him and MF would get caught in an airport bathroom. That's disgusting. As far as I know both have families. For someone to say that is not what we should stand for. They're doing their jobs.

  9. .... really should be ashamed of yourselves and the way you have dragged others through the mud on here. I have been a casual reader of this board, and to see some of the things that I have seen written about the people who cover the football program is downright ugly. I felt that as a fellow Bull, I needed to speak up.

So many of you have jumped to conclusions on things regarding USF's screw up in that letter to the Big 12, even going as far as blaming the REPORTER for even putting it out. I met and talked to Joey Knight last year one of the practices that were open to the public and I can tell you that he really seemed like a nice guy. He even took the time to answer my questions. Where some of you think that he is out to "get" USF or whatever your idiotic opinions are I have no idea. From what he said on Twitter this morning, he NEVER received a "Draft" like some of you have theorized. He said he requested the information and THE SCHOOL gave him what they were set to SEND to the Big 12. From what I've read on his timeline, he didn't even see the error until someone pointed it out. He was simply posting the information and when the misspelling started spreading like wild fire, that's when USF sent him a BRAND NEW corrected document.

In all seriousness, you all should be thanking him for even posting it, WHICH WAS HIS JOB TO DO IN THE FIRST PLACE. and really, If some UCF fan from Disneyland didn't catch the misspelling, that document WOULD HAVE BEEN SENT TO THE BIG 12 WITH THE ERROR.

This is all  USF's fault, and quite frankly the way I've heard they treat the media, they deserve to get it thrown back in their face. Some of you should really think before you post and stop drooling all over your keyboards. Maybe instead of spreading hate about THE ONLY MEDIA OUTLET IN THE WORLD THAT ACTUALLY PROVIDES USF COVERAGE direct your anger toward the athletic communications department and whoeever is leading the charge there.
