I was never enthusiastic about the hire but talk of firing him (while therapeutic in this worst timeline we now live in) is just insane.  There's a reason we're being left behind in the next realignment and it's not because Scott sucked for 9 games.

We have had a huge leadership problem on the football front for over a decade now, and the biggest issue to me is that there was no investment.

Freaking FAU was opening a stadium in 2007, AGAINST US, and 14 years later we have nothing new.

UCF has an IPF and a joke of a stadium but, its a selling point for game day on campus atmosphere.  Meanwhile I'm parking at HCC to walk a mile to the Bucs front door.

    Even FIU has a stadium.

I mean all of this happened in clear view of the public.  It wasn't a secret every other team in Florida was improving their sales pitch to bigger conferences and better recruits .  Yet here we are, groggily opening our eyes like we were asleep for a decade, blaming a coach, AGAIN.  We have done jack crap to better the football product and that's what we're getting.

So go ahead, fire Scott and be astonished when this happens again in 3 years with a new coach.  I'm sure the three or four extra wins he may net will be worth another few years of paying an ex coach.

    EPIC post!

  2. For me this problem goes way deeper than a simple bad season, or a bad coach.   I am middle aged with a few degrees from USF.  I desperately want some success and recognition for our football program, because (lets face it) that is how the majority of americans see universities.  Through the football program.

We have been 'bad' at football now for a decade through THREE bad coaching hires.  (The obvious exception being the QF couple of years)   Yes the university is doing well, with research dollars and academics way up, and a new medical school being built.   But few outside of tampa know or care about that...   Football cannot be 'down' for a decade.

There are huge ramifications for having football be down for such a long period.  The fanbase be built up in the BE is destroyed.   Students are essentially apathetic about the program.   Athletic donations are or will be down compared to other AAC schools.   New stadium nowhere in sight.   We became a joke by giving extensions to failed coaches, and then firing to pay dual coaches for YEARS.

Even the MOSI plan, which seemed exciting a couple of years ago, seems to have evaporated.  I was just in Tampa.  Seems MOSI already downsized a couple of years ago, the main building is empty, and I'm reading they want to put a movie studio there????  WTF?  Every article I found about MOSI downsizing didn't even mention USF football.

Now I am supposed to wait it out while we 'rebuild' again??    Strong came in to an 11 win program.   There is absolutely NO excuse for the back step we took under Strong.  None.   Sick of hearing how coaches need to recruit.   Get their 'own guys' in...    yada yada.    UCF never seems to have problems switching coaches and keeping the winning going.

Yeah I'll always be a fan...  but I'm really sick of watching a totally mismanaged program and team.   It's time to get serious about football, or we'll be a bottom feeder in whatever conference we end up...  for a very long time.   UCF has humiliated us completely.    Get some aggressive and energetic winning coordinator from a P5 program, or coach from a G4 program.    Not some failed 'big name'.   And no, I don't consider Holtz or Tag to have been a G4 winner.

    My 2 cents.

2-2 is the absolute best case scenario. And that would involve a miracle win like the Cincy win in Taggarts first year.

1-3 or 0-4 is much more likely.

Don't be fooled by how this team looks when we play ECU and UCONN. This team is terrible.

That's exactly what I am thinking as well. After the first 3 games I thought we were one of the worst teams in FBS. I'm happy we could put the hurt on ECU, and the BYU when was cool… but I will be grieving if we can make a bowl game. Trying to not over estimate our chances here, hoping otherwise but thinking we get wrecked thought last 4.

Why didn’t anyone tell Pitt, Miami, UCLA, Washington, Oregon, South Carolina, NC State, Baylor and Northwestern that they couldn’t be in the P5 sans an OCS?

Not sure what the point is...  USF was in the Big East, and frankly playing in a pro stadium was probably one of the things that made us attractive.   Yes, ocs is clearly NOT a requirement...  and an NFL stadium can actually be a benefit for 'moving up'.    I just wish we got a fair deal from the Bucs...  and could fill that lower bowl.

  5. Interesting thread.   Someone please explain how UofH and Tulane (of all schools) can build a new OCS whilst in the AAC...  and USF can't?    Reliant Stadium, where the Texans play, is a few miles from UofH.  And (not that it matters), but the color scheme actually works for UofH.   Yet they were able to work up funding and get an awesome ocs built.    I'm in Texas and I catch a game there every year.

I am actually in the crowd that is fine paying in the Bucs stadium...   we won't be able to build something nicer, so why not use it?   But, since so many seem to think an OCS is almost a requirement for 'moving up', I don't see why we can't do it...

I think it all relates to general support for USF.  When we were losing, we didn't draw fans.  They said that winning would cure it.  For the last two seasons we have been winning, and we still draw flies.   Why should we build an OCS for THAT kind of fanbase?   I think that's our number one problem. Culture.

  6. I'd love to get an ACC team....  UM, Duke or Wake, over any SBC/cUSA team.   Yes,, even after the last 5 losses.    We need to know what we are capable of, and I'd like to see how we come back after 3-4 weeks to get healthy and practice.   We have back to back bowl wins against the P5.   Gotta try for 3.    Better to lose to a 'quality' opponent that beat an 'inferior' team we will get no credit for beating...

I was planning to get Fubo for this game as well. Can you confirm if Eleven Sports is on the platform and will be broadcasting our game??

I dontsee Eleven Sports....   but again I am getting the 'Texas' set of Fubo channels.    My son used my login 4 hours away and he saw different NFL games/local channels than I did...   Obviously some things like CNN and ESPN are on wherever you are...

Read the prior posts in the thread it’s all there

Well...  I am in Texas.    I got Fubo as NESN says they are on Fubo.   Turns out, Fobo access to NESN is only in the New England area...   I guess on a tablet it has your location and scopes the Fubo content accordingly.

I looked at the NESN app (NESN GO)...  but appears you cant buy access...  only access it if you have cable account on a provider that actually carries NESN.

Any last ditch ideas?  Or am I missing anything?

Same thing here...   at about 3hrs in fubo kicked us out and game disappeared from menu.    5 min later game back on menu but appears to be a replay of the first 3 hrs.   simply amazing....

So you don't have big ten network from your cable provider?

The fox sports app on my ROKU does NOT have the USF game either, at least I couldn't find it.

I have the BTN, but only their 'main' channel that has the Michi SMU game.   K rock had it right, FuBo TV has it and it's working great.

    Go Bulls!

  11. Great thread I appreciate the help....  On cable I see the Michigan/SMU game... assuming that's the 'main' B10 network game.

I am not sure I will be able to watch...   I looked at the B102Go app.   They stream all the B10 content and I see the USF game, but you can't 'buy' access, has to be via your cable provider.    FoxSportsGo says they have B10 content, but I only see Michigan/SMU, not the USF/Ill game.   FuBo.tv also claims to have B10 content, but you can't see a schedule without registering, and I don't want to hand over the cc number until I'm sure...

Anyone know if FuBo will really have the USF game?

  12. My 2 cents:

I was in the crowd that blamed Holtz and losing on our lost attendance.   We drew big crowds in the Big East, I thought they would return...  they obviously did not as evidenced by our first home games this season.  Winning, ranked, and competing for a CC and NYB obviously mean nothing to our missing 'fans'.

So what else could it be?    I am starting to think we had too much success, too fast as a program...  which created a false appearance of support and legit fans.   I don't believe we, today,  actually have a real/large fanbase....  no matter how many students or alums live in the area.

We went from nothing to FCS, to FBS, to BCS, to beating big time ranked opponents in essentially a decade.   That incredible rise generated a LOT of excitement in the bay area...  and led to those big crowds at RJS.   We had better crowds in our initial years than we did last Thursday night!

But obviously that paper/bandwagon fanbase could not tolerate losing, and demotion to a non elite conference.   They are gone, and even winning, ranked, competing for a NY bowl are not going to bring them back.

It's a shame, but I don't think an OCS stadium helps at all...  in the near term.  It just moves the empty seats to campus.   We all know from the late 2000s that everyone knows how to get to RJS.   They just don't want to go attend now, no matter how much we win against 'smaller time' opponents.   Crying shame.

At this point, our current support is not sustainable for us as an FBS program.  Tallybull made a brilliant point above, you have to build the OCS as a requirement...  you can't wait for better attendance at RJS to justify the need.    It's clear the fanbase is gone, we are starting at baseline.  We need to BUILD a new fanbase.   That will happen on campus, or not at all...  given our current conference.    We can't rely on big (Big East) opponents to bring in visiting fans anymore.

  13. I like the comment above about the corner of Holly and Maple.   I hope we get the MOSI land, we can do great things with it...  but next to campus is not ' on campus'.   Everyone would drive in, park on Fowler, and drive out.   Any location 'in' the campus, and can use all the campus lots, is much better.
