  1. Thanks Mugtang! You guys have a talented team and played a great game. I think the turnovers & penalties killed you, and thank God for them b/c otherwise we would have lost. Good luck with winning your conference championship.

No problem. It's a tough one for us to swallow. Hope you guys win the Big East.

  2. Brock Marion and Nate Burleson have donated money to the university since they left in fact I think Brock paid for a new locker room to be built. Some others that played football here that played some in the NFL were Bryan Reeves and Alex Van Dyke. Trevor Insley also played for the Colts and was a starter at one point until a career ending ankle injury in a football game.

Jeff Rowe and Kaep are the only two QB's from Nevada that have made done something in the NFL which is interesting with all the pretty good QBs that have come through here in the years.

I think we have a few guys that were signed to the practice squads for the team as well.

Chris Ault has also been sought after by some NFL teams to their QB coaches but he each time decided to remain at Nevada.

We've been very lucky to retain Chris Ault with the money he makes. He could have left several times to make more money elsewhere but has remained loyal.

  3. Thanks Mugtang. Who are your 5 most famous football alum?

    Brock Marion

    Colin Kaepernick

    Marion Motley

    Nate Burleson

    Charles Mann

Maybe not the most popular but those are the ones that pop into my head.

Thanks mugtang. One last question before I stop picking your brain...we have a tradition on here of posting pictures of female fans from the opposing team for that week, called the "The Girls of" series. As a local, and as a fan of the Wolfpack, do you have any pics to share in that post? I think this would be a first, but I could be wrong since I have only been a member for a few years.

I will when I'm not posting from my phone. :)

  4. That's kinda sad with the success they've had in recent years and their opening win over Cal.

We've had a lot of problems getting people to the stadium. A lot of it has to do with Reno being a transient town and full of people who have no loyalty to the University. Part of the blame lies with the AD for not doing enough to engage the community. Part is because our stadium sucks.

  5. We also have to remember Cal had their back up QB. He was missing wide open WRs throughout the game and had a pic and fumble. We have no TOs we will be fine. Also, BJ, RUN THE **** BALL!!!

true and false there...the backup played till the end of the first quarter and then Maynard came in. He is the full time starter. He missed much of the first quarter but came in a minute and a half to go and his first pass was a 20 yard bullet to his wr.

Was that the clown pointing at his bicep after an underthrown ball?

    Nope that was the starter.

  6. Reno's altitude is almost as high as Denver. Is this going to pose any problems regarding conditioning for our guys?

I imagine Kloss would be helped in kicking off so hopefully we will see more of the same results as last week.

We're at 4,500 feet. The biggest difference between Denver and Reno (besides population, an NFL team and a bunch of other things) is the humidity. It will be about 15% humidity at game time.

  7. Here are some of my thoughts from our game vs Cal. The game was teetering on the brink of a blowout until we had a bad snap that took us out of scoring position and forced us to punt (we were up 14-0 at that point).

Our defense played a good game. Better than any of us expected. They did give up a few big plays but Cal really only had 2 long drives.

Our offense played up tempo and had Cal's D sucking wind by the 2nd quarter (which was in Berkeley which is right at sea level). Fajardo was lights out with his passing, something like 25-32. He only got sacked once (maybe twice). He also ran for a 50 yard TD. Jefferson ran for 160 yards and 3 tds. The guy is a work horse. We held the ball for 35 minutes and ran 90 plays.

For the game this week. You guys definitely have the talent edge. If this game was being played in Florida I'd easily say you guys would win and win convincingly. But this game is being played in Reno and I think that's the difference in this game. My prediction is Nevada 34 South Florida 31.

  8. I hope you guys all stay safe during Isaac.

    Thank you for the support.

How is Nevada's football team doing, preparing for the season? Do you have any expectations?

My expectation is to go 12-0 but is that a reality...probably not. We have some depth issues at WR and QB. If our QB gets injured we'll be lucky to win 6 games. Honestly after the Cal game we'll have a better indication of how good or bad we're going to be.

  9. I saw that there is parking around Peccole Field, do people tailgate in those lots? Is that relatively close to Mackay Stadium?

I believe you can tailgate there, but I would call the University to confirm, the contact person is Meridith Montoya (775) 682-6905. The rules are you can't tailgate south of one of the parking garages, but that garage is south of the stadium. As for distance to the stadium, it depends on where you park and tailgate in that lot. If you do it as far west as possible, you'll get relatively close to the stadium but it's an uphill walk to the stadium. Hope that info helps.
