Hotel booked, Sheraton Downtown for 4 of us. Can't wait! Go Bulls. Any suggestions for tailgating places or ideas?

Also purchased 4 tickets to the game. I can't wait!!! Now need to reserve a hotel (which seems fairly reasonable). The host hotel, Hyatt Regency seems a bit far from downtown Birmingham. Are most fans staying there? I have also seen the Sheraton downtown, Embassy Suites and Aloft mentioned in the post. Which one would be the best for a fun bowl vibe and to be walking distance to things?

Unfortunately our bowl selections aren't that great. Definitely hope they improve in the near future. At least it would be a P5 school.

Birmingham Bowl just feels like good fit for Gamecocks.

No doubt the Cotton Bowl is rooting for Ohio to upset Western Michigan. I think Navy will be a better draw, if they beat Temple
So what happens with the Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas if Navy heads to the Cotton Bowl? Will another AAC fill the space? Decent bowl game if it's against a Big 12 team.
-
So, if Navy gets ahead of WMU and ends up in the Cotton Bowl, can an AAC team end up in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas vs a Big 12 school (although right now they have N.Texas projected ugh lol)

It is a great question. I think it could be answered with another question. If USF was playing Kansas State and the Gators had a game at the same time, who would get the most viewers? The same would be true for FSU. Would fans/alumni of these teams watch USF in Tampa, Orlando, or the state in general?
The same thing could be said about Cinci, having Ohio State nearby. Irrelevant point in my opinion.

It's pretty awesome at the stadium though must say.
I agree. The venue is gorgeous and the usf crowd was alive for most of the game. Definitely sounds like the in game experience didn't come through on the television. Fun bowl game although the outcome was not what we wanted.

Actually the service academies increase ratings and attendance. Watch what happens when Navy comes to town. They would almost definitely put Army in our division and it would be a very popular game attendance wise.
The league already had 3 teams end in the top 25 (for all the good it did us), that is great but what we also need is increased attendance and the service academies bring out the casual fans and we have a huge base here in town. I, for one, would love to watch us play.
I totally agree! It's about increasing the exposure to the conference.
-
It is time to invite Air Force and Army into the conference. Would be great to have all three service schools.
-
I will be there with my best friend. Wouldn't miss it, especially after what USF football has been through. Showing all the support possible right now is a key to our success.

I love being the underdogs!!!

Camping World Independence Bowl
Tulsa vs. Virginia Tech
Shreveport, Louisiana | Independence Stadium
5:45 p.m. on ESPNSeems a little unfair that Tulsa gets a P5.

Houston secures New Year's Six bid with AAC title win over Temple. Article on ESPN states, "Where they'll (Temple) go bowling will be determined on Sunday, but some projections have them going to the Miami Beach Bowl. Interesting.

Sure, why not. It's tradition.

Saw these yesterday. They are very sharp looking. Love having Navy in our conference. Would love to also have Air Force.

I'll throw in my 2 cents.
Let me start by saying, I have 5 seasons tickets in not one of the high dollar donor sections at Ray Jay, however, I've had them for a while and will continue to have them even if we don't build an OCS. With that being said, I hate everything about the experience at Ray Jay. I hate walking up to stadium and seeing all the pictures of the Bucs, V. Jackson, L. David, J Winston, etc. all over the outside of the stadium and seeing one USF banner draped over the walkway. I hate the stupid pirate ship in the N endzone. I hate the Buc logos that are splashed all over the place. At least now we get the endzones painted unlike before. I'm not even going to mention the ridiculous red seats and how horrible that looks with 20k in the seats. At least at Pitt and UM their colors sort of blend with the colors of the NFL team they share the stadium with so it doesn't look quite as ridiculous. Oh, just for the record, I'm 51 and could care less about the comfy seatback chairs. College football is different that the NFL and bleacher seats are more the norm than not because most people stand.
I'm not going to regurgitate all the benefits of an OCS, because other people in this thread have touched on all those benefits to having the stadium on campus and I agree with everything said. I just don't see how most other teams, Division II, Division III, FCS, FBS, G5, P5 young and old can find ways to build an OCS and the Bulls still aren't even publicly discussing it.
College football is about passion and tradition. Games at Ray Jay are antiseptic and sterile. Yes, even when we're winning. If I wanted the NFL atmosphere, I'd have Bucs tickets instead. If money is an issue, I'd rather they add 20K seats to Corbett stadium and play the games there. Anything but the CITS.
Sorry for the lengthy post but I had to get this off my chest.
Well said, I feel the exact same way. It's really time for USF to build there own stadium.
