  1. If anyone wants to watch the WKU-UK game...http://espn.go.com/watchespn/player/_/source/espn3/id/560258/

The teams had similar talent though with an edge to UK. The difference was coaching. You should also watch them play at Alabama this year. Lost 31-0 but it was much closer than that.

And don't sweat their place in the Sunbelt this year, it was a very good league this year and every loss was very close.

I think halfway through this season ended a streak of Western covering the spread in like 20 straight games. That's a coach that gets it done.

  2. Recruiting the right players is part of the battle but kids go to schools because of tradition of winning..we dont have that...

As much as kids like college coaches they do not go there just because they like them as people. Every coach kisses their butt.

Academics..well we arent the best that you can offer but its not bad...

Well what does a kid reallllly care about then??

Well he cares about putting up numbers and getting seen and playing at the next level. We hired a guy who does not generate any attention as far as offense or defense. If were worried about a good OC and DC were screwed. A good head coach nowadays has his hands in one of the other more than the OC or DC...You guys are looking for managable reliable coaching and thats all well and dandy but its going to keep us 7-5 and 6-6 the whole way. We could have gotten someone to take our offense or defense to the next level and make kids want to come because they want to play in it...We did not accomplish that. These kids will still choose the other schools over Taggart anyday.

You're overlooking personality in a head coach. It's a big deal. And USF has it now.

Kids want to play for it, and play hard. You've got a good one.

  3. Basketball is a players game, football is a coaches game. The talent difference in football is not that different between one team and another. It's all about schemes, technique and motivation in football and Taggert does these very, very well. The best coaches get 2stars to play like 4stars and 3stars to play like 5stars. Taggert is one of those guys.

In hoops it's all about the five kids on the floor for the most part.

  4. Poor choice. Mediocre results in an easy conference. I hope this wasn't the best we could do.

I can't understand this sentiment unless you really don't understand the monumental task he was undertaking at WKU. What he accomplished there was actually pretty remarkable.

Not only that but the Sunbelt was actually pretty **** tough this year. Monroe, Lafayette, WKU, Arkansas State, Middle...

  5. Taggert is going to be awesome at USF and you guys will love him. I've got the same vibe with him as I did with Heath. The Bulls just need some patience but it's going to blow up big time, imo. I was absolutely dumbfounded that UK didn't offer him, but I honestly think they knew he would turn them down and their pride won't let them be played by Western's coach.

Taggert is the real deal. Go Bulls.

  6. 3 teams from the big state of TN in the sweet sixteen and all three games decided by a COMBINED 3 points... not too bad

Wow, three points?  All three lost by one point.  That is pretty neat, I hadn't noticed.

Your Vols let me down, though.  I had A&M beating UT to get to the FF.  Oops.

I've still got UF beating GU in the final, so my bracket is still clinging to hope.(Although OSU is up 4 at the half)

  7. beating auburn is crucial to becoming a consistent top 25 team, if we lose badly, they will forget about us at least until we play WVU.

I don't know, if the Bulls gave them all they could handle on their home field and still lost, I think the national media would give a lot of respect.  Even top25 teams don't win on the road versus top10 teams that often.

It's really a win-win situation to me.  The only way USF suffers negatively is if they are blown out.  But I really can't see that happening, not with so much at stake.

    Can't wait! :GoBulls

  8. As a Carolina resident, I'll guess that the Tarheels will be very lucky to win one of those four games.

Also, in my experience, UNC = UK in just about every way.  Arrogant, ignorant fanbase etcetera.

UK scheduled their way to seven wins last year.  And they did it with the help of a large number of "hired guns" who have since flunked out of school or been kicked off the team.

    Their wins were against...

    Texas State

    Ole Miss

    Central Michigan

    Mississippi State

    Louisiana-Monroe

    Vanderbilt

Georgia(impressive, but it should be noted that this loss is what turned UGA's season around)

And five of those games were very close.(It's hard to beat people when your defense is ranked in the high-100's)

The SEC beefed up their conference sked this year, so a similar record would definitely impress.  Though I'm expecting another 4-win year and Rich Brooks scolding the fans for being unhappy with it. ;D

  9. Just for the record, Louisville did not lose its defensive coordinator.  Patterson was the guy Kragthorpe brought with him to co-coordinate with four-year D-coordinator Mike Cassity.  Patterson got homesick and went back to Tulsa after about a month on the job.

And also, Kentucky is not one of the top 25 teams in the country.  I'd give them 15 points versus the Bulls right now.
