  1. Well since I came over BEFORE the game I figured I'd come by afterwards.  Sorry that Maltiqua was able to single-handedly keep 10 of you up all night.  We all have our message-board vigilantes.  He's apparently our version of FLSportsfan83 - but seemingly less emo.

Anyway - that was a great college basketball game.  It really was.  Nothing came easy for either team.  I know you were missing some guys - as were we (Diakite and Gaynor).  It's tough to say how much that affected us since we're talking about freshmen in a cast full of freshmen.  What we lost in Gaynor inside was made up for by surprising performances by Davis and Zondevan.

Look - this thread has been crapped out.  There's nothing to say about football.  It is what it is - and we are on the losing side of that.  Even when you gave us the game - we weren't good enough to beat you either time (06, 08).

Basketball - 18-5.  I dig it. Since this was our first win against you since 1994...I have to wonder if that means 3 of our wins came as a DII team - which makes me wonder why you even throw that stat around?  That's worse than losing to Bethune-Cookman.  But it's your stat to throw around so do with it as you wish.

Last night was a great game.  Vega - you've lost a lot of credibility with me going back to the Clanton thread on the prospect board.  You seem to know a lot about the game - but have an incredible bias.  Why did Clanton choose UCF?  Your analysis - he didn't want to compete against the best.  My analysis (which incidentally matches what he said) - he liked the fan support.

You guys also make yourselves sound even worse when you say "Oh look - this is UCFs final four"  because our fans are loud and our coach is pumped up.  Crazy story - that's how most schools with successful programs are EVERY night.  You guys have a great coach in Jim Leavitt and I've seen him get crazy against some bad teams.  We undoubtedly had a higher than usual turnout because it was an in-state game - but we had over 5K for most of C-USA play last year and the efforts to make our student section one of the best are paying off.

As long as you are citing watching a football game on TV as a reason to not go to a game in-person 60 miles away as your reason - then expect to be making excuses for kids like Clanton coming to UCF instead of USF for many years to come.  Frankly, your support is terrible and your team deserves better.

Honestly, how the HELL could you compare me to FlaSportsFan?  That's seriously offensive.  I think you're a Bull suck-up because you're afraid of a little confrontation.  Man up dork.

Look, I'm not the only one who feels that USF dodges UCF any chance it can get.  To the guy that said they didn't have program a decade ago, if you don't even know when your program was started how can you argue with me over our histroy??  If you take an objective look, it's seems obvious to me.  What OTHER reason can you give me for them ending the series given the money, the fan support and the natural feel to it?  Makes no sense.

  2. ucIFers are getting their fame in at 2am on a USF site. Not shocking, really.

What a joke. I swear they get off on the smallest things in sports.

Fame? You kiddin'? Nobody but UCF fans and USF fans even know this game was played. Just like nationally most people STILL don't know the difference between UCF and USF.

You guys have to be the most overinflated egos in sports. It's almost funny with the arrogance in which you view yourselves. It's baffling.

If it wasn't clear the first time... you guys are on here at 2am (refreshing the page no less) trying to get your fame in on this site because really, no one cares outside of both these schools.

The fact that Brad had to require members to sign on to this board to view it just shows you how many ucfers are on looking. Imagine how many ucfers we on here during the day when it's not required to sign on to view.

Most over inflated egos in sports? Only in ucfs eyes... and that's because we own you in almost every sport. We own you in football, the basketball series is 18-5 in favor of USF (even with ucfs win today), not to mention soccer, volleyball, and every other sport minus baseball where USF only leads by a game or two. Sorry that we may seem confident/over inflated ego, but the scoreboards have been in our favor. Facts are facts and conference affiliation favors us.

You guys? Looks like it's just me browsing. I rarely visit this site, I don't really care about you guys until we play a game. Not sure where you're going there.

As for the ownership, you guys can deny it as much as you want, but you dodged playing UCF in football while we were up (1998-2002), you dodged playing us in hoops when we were up (2002-2005) and you can bet your athletic director will start dodging UCF again now that our programs are on the up and up. We're out-recruiting you in both hoops and football this year, and by many measures out recruited you in both sports last year too... Despite our terrible season and depsite you play in the best hoops conference in the nation.

So, we'll see you guys in 2015 when UCF starts having some down years so you can keep pumping that record up.

Did we not beat you 64-12 in UCF's BEST season ever? We dodged you during your best years? And you all wonder why we call you ucIF. Why not try to be consistent in football. We beat you when you finished 2nd in your conference in '05, beat you in your bad year in '06, beat you in your best year in '07, and beat you again this year on a bad year.

Out recruiting us this year... last year? According to what site? Scout? Rivals? Espn? No No and No. And I'm not even a fan of rankings... what happens on the field/court is what counts. Basketball recruiting doesn't end until April and right now, rivals has us with 1 three star each and 1 "no stars" each.

Also, we gain nothing by playing/beating you and we lose everything if we lose to a non-bcs school. We haven't lost to a non-bcs school since our CUSA days if I remember correctly (last year being '04). Join the BE and we can start it again.

No, you didn't dodge UCF during its best years, but you did dodge UCF during years where we were the better program. Deny it all you want, but do a little fact finding at cfbdatabase.com and compare the programs during those years that USF refused to play. UCF wanted a series with USF for almost a decade, but USF didn't accept it until UCF started to hit bottom. Now you can jaw off all you want about being 4-0 and you're pulling out of it again. And don't give me this "does no good to play non-BCS school" garbage because you replaced UCF with a non-BCS nobody school. You did the college football equivalent of a sucker punch, and it's costing both schools money and fans. It's beyond belief how stupid of a decision your athletic leadership has made.

Now I agree with you, forget about what recruiting sites say it's about what's on the field and court. But guess what? USF won't get back on the field and court with UCF so I guess we'll never get that answer about who's been recruiting better the last couple years huh? What you can say though is head-to-Head, UCF has taken more players with offers from both schools in both sports...

As for conference affiliation, I'd hate to see UCF join the Big East. It's a terrible malaligned conference. UCF has its sights aimed higher than the Big East for obvious reasons and will get there for not so obvious reasons.

    Sweet dreams ladies.

  5. Guys, I hate to break it to you but ucf played New Mexico, a much more legit basketball team than USF.  They also play Florida, Memphis, Penn, UAB and Houston, all real basketball programs when compared to USF.  They may hate USF, but USF is hardly a basketball anything.

All here we go... the parade of ucf fans infected our bullspen borad, our blogs, and the national sites as well. Well go ahead and get your 15 minutes of fame for beating a bulls team still in it's lava stage.

I guess it is true that the sun even shines on a dog's *** occasionally.

LOL....so just because I like to read msg board chatter it means im infected with usf?  You guys are the ones with hardons with ucf with your retarded posts of ucf msg board topics.  Please, do me and favor and take our nuts out of your mouth!

    And to address other posts..

This is not our most important game of the year...obviously those games are uf and memphis

    We didnt rush the court

This game was the second highest attended game for now....our memphis game will beat our current record

Its funny seeing people post how our atmosphere was "too much" for a lowly usf game yet everyone cries about the lack of people at your own games

So please keep our name out of your mouth and worry about your own schools shortcomings

pretty sad you took the time to register to post garbage. looking at how that student section was acting like it was the national championship game, i highly doubt the memphis game will have the same attitude. most of the idiots that attend ucf know nothing about sports and saw that ucf was playing usf, your "rival", and decided to go to the game, even if they knew nothing about basketball. and the games you mention as your most important, well buddy, you guys will probably get creamed so dont get your hopes up

Yeah a potentially top 25 memphis team will have a lesser game atmosphere than the doormat of the big east..I want the crack your smoking.

I like how you throw out the word "rival" as to why the students showed up...not the fact it was heavily marketed the last 2 weeks, not the fact that its a saturday night before exam week, not the fact that we got free shirts or the fact that we havent had a home game in like 2 weeks.

Whats wrong with a student section that cheers on our team?  I think the student atmosphere was better in last years 3 OT win vs tulsa.

Instead of explaining why your fairweather fan base doesnt show up to your BIG EAST BASKETBALLL TEAM's games you once again knock our fan base for showing up and being loud.

And yes we probably might get creamed, but at least our fans will still show up including the drive to Jacksonville.

And no I registered and posted 1 thing like a month ago but it was deleted

That is true.  The game against Tulsa was better attended and had more energy than tonight, because our fans "who don't know anything about sports" understood the significance of the conference matchup.

Guess getting beat AND realizing UCF knows how to support its teams = adding insult to injury.  As noted, there is a reason Clanton chose to play at UCF over a Big East team...

Man, UCF is playing 8 freshman.  That is the definition of a rebuilding team.  Can't use that as an excuse, assuming "lava stage" was meant to be "larva stage".

  7. saw howard walking around campus the other day strutting like he was the bomb. i should have mentioned to him how he is a below average guard at best.

i wonder if ucf fans rush the court since this will likely be their biggest win of the year

They deserve it because they are the reason ucf is playing the way they are.

rushing the court against a team that won 12 games last year is pathetic and shows how sad the athletics programs are at ucf

my new prediction for usf is to win maybe 12 games, 13 at best

Nobody rushed the court after the win, not sure what game you were watching.

Biggest win of the year?  Not USF.  New Mexico in the Pit breaking their 33-game OOC home winning streak was our biggest win of the season.

UCF only win 10 games?  You guys are really underestimating the team you just lost to.  Remember, you took a good UAB team to OT a few days ago also.

  8. I don't need much.

    Thank you for your concern.

How about you list the other schools over the past couple years and compare that to USF to back up this unique "perspective". Do that and I'm sure you'll come to the same conclusion I did ...... You're an idiot.

Get real.  I'm sure you know better than I do the incidents that have occured with your players over the past two years.  Drugs, Theft, academic problems, etc.  I don't document them so I'm not going to spend the time trying to give you quantitive facts.  I will tell you - to the average Floridian, there seems to be more issues occuring with the USF program than at most other colleges.

You don't have to accept this, but it is a reality.  And if I am a USF fan, I'm starting to get fed up.  I'm not saying fire your coach, kick every bad apple off the team, etc.  I'm saying somebody should be saying "lets not see this stuff in the paper again, it's a black eye on MY University".

That is all.  Have a nice day, and I hope you cope with your misery a little better in the future.

  9. It'a big, urban university. These things happen. You're an idiot.

Heh, whatever you say guy.  Trust me, when these types of stories continue to come out, it makes the University look bad to the public.  It's expected once in a blue moon, but not this frequently.

Those who continue to accept it are living in another world.

  10. Yes, your post was intended as a flame.

Hill's "strike one" occurred when he was still in HS. The "strike two" is pretty serious, but smoking pot occurs on every team in the country. The coaching staff, if not the university, will take appropriate action. I find it a bit of an insult that you say these things are "tolerated".

The bright spot to this is that the truest QB we have, Matt Grothe, will be ready to go this summer.

Honestly, I do not like USF one bit, but this wasn't a flame.  I have heard more of these kind of stories regarding USF in the past two years than all other Florida schools.

Just giving an outsider's perspective.  There has got to be a point where some of the boosters and/or administration start to express frustration over this.  USF football will not meet its goals if these types of events continue to occur.

  11. I'm not coming on here to start a smack match, but does this embarrass any of you guys??  These type of incidents are occurring much too often for USF, and they continue to be tolerated!

I understand kids make mistakes, but this is a pretty big strike two.  If I am the president of The University of South Florida, I am bringing the old ball coaches in to my office and saying "If this kind of news hits the paper one more time, you're out!"

You guys really do get a lot of bad press.  Again, not a flame, but I think some of your boosters should start to take some action.
