  1. Thanx ...

My first EVER college football game was UConn at Yale ... in the Yale Bowl ... you walk down into the stadium. The top row of teh stadium is level with the ground.

And here is the new soon to be Field house the players will come out of prior to stepping down into the hole.

420 new club seats on the 2nd floor will bring us to just over 18,100 or so.  That will give us over 600 club seats between the Sky Ranch and the EZ stadium Club to go along with the 180 seats in the 14 private suites.

  2. Just ask the 2001 Texas a&m team that went 8 - 4 how they felt about the Mcneese team that year?

This isn't 2001, so what makes you think that McNeese can beat USF in 2006?

I know Texas A&M...  Texas A&M was a Friend of mine in 2001 (HC RC Slocum Graduated from McNeese).  And sir...  Your program is NO A&M... ;D

You guys lost to A&M and if it weren't for 2 defensive TDs the margin of victory would have been 4 TDs

You're right, we aren't A&M, we're on our way to being bigger than A&M.  If we make half the progress in the next 10 years that we made the last 10 years our program will be bigger.

Did A&M even have a winning season last year.

    What?   :-? Defensive TD's don't count toward W's?    :o

I tell you what, we were winning 24-10 at the beginning of the 4th quarter and lost 4 Defensive backs due to leg cramps in the 4th quarter.  (Texas A&M locker room was 55 degrees).

The Big 12 Refs gave A&M a juggleing TD catch that the replay clearly showed the catch had not been made, and then they called a bad call on us taking us out of scoring range at the end of the game.  We dominated that game.

Their fans knew who really won the battle.  Just ask them.  They will tell you they won the war, but the battles belonged to McNeese.

We're coming to play.  Count on that. ;)

  3. I ain't in the mood for this crap.

Get that **** storm outta here.

You gotta understand - when it comes to these 'canes - we will all err on the side of caution.

As a reminder, RayJ is used as "The Man's" operations center for this sort of thing, so we're

stuck having to just wait and see.

But seriously...get that thing out of here.

    Not looking good... :(

Let's hope Sunday or Monday afternoon is an option.     :-/

  4. How did it get the nickname: "The Hole" ?

If you look at the photo closely, the botton 17 rows are actually sunken down below the normal ground surface.  Note the hills in each endzone?

From the field house, players approch the stadium and have to walk down a stairway to get down to the playing field.  Thus they nick named it "The Hole".

Our normal seating capacity is around 17,800 with the sky box seating added in.  BUT, the hills allow us to add another 5,000 seats on the hills, which we have done on occasion.   Our all time record crowd is officially 27,500 vs ULL in 1976, the year we beat Tulsa in the Independance Bowl.

There were so many people in the stadium about 2000 could not even see the playing surface.  The fire marshal will not let us do that anymore, so that will be our all time record unless we expand our stadium.

  5. i thought it was supposed to be here and gone by thursday anyways...

Latest track still has us getting the backside of the weather on Friday.  If they decide not to play on Saturday, I guess Sunday and Monday are viable options.

The models are all starting to converge in the Tampa area.

I think, AND HOPE, Sunday or Monday is an option.  Saturday might be kinda tough.  And Transportation for McNeese could be a big issue for their planned Friday arrival.

  6. If our game is effected, this would be the 5th game our team is some how effected over the last 12 months.  We have had enough of this... >:(

Our team had to evacuate for 35 days last year and we only played 2 home games in our stadium.  The Field house is still in bad shape and we just got our lights re-installed a week or so ago as other work continues on our stadium and Luxury boxes.

  7. I was at the game in '95 (use to live in Louisiana).

That '95 McNeese Team is still one of the best all-around teams I've ever seen play.

The week before that game...UCF played at #1 FSU...and did ok.

The next week...UCF played at #1 Div I-AA McNeese and got totally dominated...it wasn't even close.

McNeese had a very good QB (believe he went on to play in the Canadian Football League) and had a very quick defense.

I think McNeese lost in the semi-finals or finals that year in Div I-AA.

Fans in/around Lake Charles, LA like their Cowboy Football!!

    KL

    You remember well.

That QB was about 3 inches too short to play QB in the NFL (or so they say).  He did play two years for the Bengals and in NFL Europe as a QB, and then played for 4 or 5 years as a safety in Seattle.

He has been lighting up the CFL as a QB again and is expected to sign an NFL contract this year and try to pull a Warren Moon.

BTW, McNeese lost in the Semi's to Marshall that year after going 13-0 prior to that game.

The Sargin ratings had us ranked as the 36th D-I football program that year and our average margin of victory was 38-9.

  8. They are a top 1AA program ... they are in Katrina's wake and it seems they may be down in 2006 according to Doc.

With the 2 teams we open with, hopefully we can get enough playing time for Matt & C.Hill.

    Actually,

Katrina was very nice to us...  That's the MEDIA's Hurricane.

It was Hurricane RITA that kicked our @$$es.

We lost 2 scheduled home games, several light poles, a field house, and our practice facilities while FEMA camped out.
