  1. Actually, the strength of the D is the secondary.

Maxey, Jennings, K. Phillips and Meriweather are as good a foursome as you'll find. In fact, I'd be surprised if you could find two safeties playing better than Phillips and Meriweather right now.

The DL is good and deep, but not top 5. The LBs are good and deep, but not top 5. The secondary is top 5, which allows the front 7 to focus on stopping the run.

  2. Just wanted to respond to this comment:

Wright is young and seems like he can be forced into at least a mistake or two if he gets pressured.

Actually, Kyle is being lauded by the coaches and the media for not making mistakes. He threw two picks against FSU, and hasn't thrown another since.

As far as matchups are concerned, from a UM fan's perspective:

USF O vs. UM D - advantage Miami

Miami's defense defends both the pass and run well. USF will need to maintain long, sustained drives to score, which won't be easy.

USF D vs. UM O - advantage USF

Miami's offense has been mediocre, with spotty OL play and a lot of dropped balls by the receivers. The coaching staff has moved to a lot of moving pockets and short drops to help the o-line, but that also reduces the threat of a big play downfield.

    Special Teams - push

USF has had a few mental errors in kick coverage, but Miami's kickers (both the PK and P) have been extremely erratic.

I expect a low-scoring game, with UM coming out on top.

  3. Congrats on the big win against UL. I certainly think USF has a chance to be successful, but I think the Canes will win. I just wanted to address some of your points:

    1. They do not score well in the red zone

19 plays inside the red zone  29 yds and 16 points

        4 trips 3 field goals no TD's

Absolutely, this is a major concern for the team and one that needs to be addressed.

    2.  The Oline is suspect

um QB kyle has been sacked  14 times in two games

The Oline is, in my opinion, average at best, but you neglected to mention that Colorado had zero sacks.

9 sacks after 1 game (FSU)

14 sacks after 2 games (FSU & Clemson)

14 sacks after 3 games (FSU, Clemson & Colorado)

    3. The Oline is suspect X 2

they have not run the ball well 44 yds on 14 carries

for moss. total 123yds for the game

I think this was more the result of Colorado putting 9 men in the box, and the UM staff electing to pass. I believe our pass:run ratio in the Colorado game was 2:1.

4 the Dline is supect to inside running

there are opening, now are they lardge enough for us to slip through?

Actually, the run D has been stout. Much improved vs. last year.

Anyway, congrats again, and good luck on Saturday (but not too good  ;) )
