  1. did penn state play vanilla defense and offense in that game?
On defense it was very vanilla.  we sat back and played zone.  Very little blitzing and only rushed 3 or 4 guys.  They figured we had enough of a lead that if you don't give up a quick score USF wasn't going to come back.  Offense was pretty plain, seemed to run the same draw play over and over again.

  2. Thanks 'Nut.  BTW, what happened to the Blizzard.  I saw a lot of non-white.  And secondly, what's up w/the lion claw w/5 fingers on all the cars?  It doesn't look right.  Should be four claws...right?

Hightech...I supposed that was the case but on all the road games I been to, talent viewing is in the top 5 things to do at the game.  UofSC, AL, ECU, and even Troy State had good neck exercising drills.  At PSU during halftime, I only had maybe three head turners and I was looking pretty hard.  There was disappointm't however I did not go near the student section but at my age I appreciate well kept 30 something mommies too.

I was disappointed by the blizzard too.  it may take a few games to catch on though.  It was very similar last year the first few games people kinda forgot.  the reason there are 5 fingers is because Clemson copyrighted the 4 finger paw before PSu started using it.

  3. From page 107 of the NCAA rule book:

Persons Subject to the Rules Restrictions

before the game, during the game or between the periods. Any act prohibited

hereunder or any other act of unnecessary roughness is a personal foul.

    a. No person subject to the rules shall strike an opponent with the knee;

strike an opponent’s helmet (including the face mask), neck, face or any

other part of the body with an extended forearm, elbow, locked hands,

palm, fist, or the heel, back or side of the open hand; or gouge an opponent

    (A.R. 9-1-2-I and II).

    b. No person subject to the rules shall strike an opponent with his foot or

any part of his leg that is below the knee.

  4. Attendance is higher at PSU because there is NOTHING else to do near PSU.  Can't recall the last time anyone went to University Park for spring break or vacation.

That has to be the dumbest thing i have ever heard.  Do you really think that the only reason people go to penn state games is because there is nothing else to do?  the truth is that most of the people who attend games come from areas which have just as much to do as tampa ect.

  5. NO KEGS!!!!! Wow. and I thought we were strict. I guess Sherriff, Matty, Bunt and the boys will have to have 1/2 of their vehicle loaded with mega cases and huge coolers. Go get em boys!!! Wish I was with ya!    Reaper

That is actually one of the rules they strickly enforce along with the charcoal grills.  i bit of warning is PA you can not buy bear in grocery stores or convience stores.  You can only buy 2 6 packs at a time from a bar/6pack shop.  You need to go to a beer distributor inorder to buy cases.

  6. Some tips:

Arrive early to parking lots.  There is no shortage but you can end up pretty far away if you arrive late.  There is plenty to see and do before the game.  Gates open 2 hours before kick-off and the parking lots open at 8am.  All parking is "forced" parking, which means they park cars as they come in.  If you want to park with someone you must follow them in.  Once you park you can not move your car.   If you don't pack a tailgate food is available in the Jordan Center Arena.  The Penn State band holds a pregame concert in the arena.

Try to get to your seats early,  30 min before kickoff at least.  There can often be bottlenecks getting through the gates.  All bags are searched and long lines can form.  If you can avoid carring bags by all means do it.  there are express lines that to not back up as bad for people not carring anything, but backups in portals close to kickoff do still happen.  The seats are alluminum bleachers so a seat cusion is highly recommended.  hard chairback seats are not permitted.  Weather should be good but umbrellas are not allowed.  Every game there is a chance of rain there are hundreds of umbrellas piled up at the gate.
