  1. again, they have something for every down.  #8 is too long to play in between plays. The band gets enough crap for even playing at all and idiots in the student section think the band can hear them from 100 feet away when they yell at them to shut up.  They implemented short 5-10 second songs to play in between downs so people dont get pissed and so they dont play over the offense.  If they played the SAME thing, ie #8 over and over again, like the stupid fsu crap ever 5 seconds, trust me, people would be pissed and annoyed...just like the mcdonalds first down..bleh

  2. Ok, once again, they are as young growing program just like the team and if you have followed them at all you would know that they grew in numbers from around 170 last year to over 220 this year, and have also gottem a lot better. The director, Mike Robinson, who is a legend as a band director in Florida, has made them more of a real college band this year. To whoever was talking about playing after each down, they do. They have something for 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th down of the opposing offense.  As for people complaining about their halftime shows not being for a college band, THEY ARE. Most college bands play songs that people know from pop and rock music.  First show was pink floyd, second red hot chilli peppers and for the end of the season they are play earth wind and fire.  Also, anyone traveling to miami, the HOT is also going and you will see them show up Miami's lovely band.

  3. HAHA..My ex-girlfriend and I are in the last picture on there, in the fans of today pic,  although my head is covered by the dude next to me..and my sportscenter is next sign. I think that was the one with my aweful hand drawn bull on it that Brad took a pic of because it was so sad. haha..

  4. Ahhh....those were the days Jewbull...I still have my handcuff that we all bought for that game.  I'll never forget how the idiot security guards tried to throw some of our guys out and caused a commotion during the first 2 minutes of the game...The first 2 minutes of the game where cincy came out punching and never turned back.  But it sure was great seeing LRS stand up for his students in telling the "security" that we didn't do anything.  It was also fun watching Seth get into it with that idiot ref.....There were also some fun nights in Cincy, although not something to talk about here..WOw, ,I can't believe Terrence was a freshman then..memories...

  5. Same here Sheriff....Looks like someone has taken dibs on my front row center court after all my years sitting there.  Hopefully when I get back into school to finish up finally I can steal my seat back!  Ahhh memories, of the days of sitting outside the sundome by myself for 5 hours on a Wednesday afternoon waiting to get my seat.....

  6. Well I had to work late so I couldn't make it to the game so I paid the $4/95 to watch the game online.  Of course it doesnt work.  Memphis fans also paid and it still says your webcast will begin shortly. Then the GOUSFBULLS.com radio died...Wait, it just came back on,  welcome back , right before the half.  I love technology, ,guess I should have gotten off of work earlier and just gone to the game.

ps-Is that you JEWBULL behind the Memphis radio guys?  I think I hear your voice, and I knnow the visiting radio guys usually sit right behind where you used to sit.

  7. I am a huge sports fan, I am obsessed, especially with the Bulls...But I do not understand how at this point, 2004, that our defense has SO many freshman on it.  I can understand the first few years,  when we were real young, but we have almost gone thru two 4 year classes and it looks like we are a brand new team again. It reminds me of a first year high school that only has  freshman, sophmores, and juniors.   How did it get to the point this year with our "defensive" minded coach, that we had NO depth.  I know there are injuries, but 7 years and NO depth?  Can someone explain it?

  8. The rumor was not if he was fired, it was the reason(s). Dr. Mike Robinson is the director of bands, and one of his jobs when taking over was the marching band. He gave that part of the job over to Steve Visnage, who I was talking about in my post.  Steve is no longer with the program so in the meantime, Dr. Robinson is running the show. The "interesting" performance this past Saturday we have to chalk up to the unneasiness of the leadership.

  9. Well I havn't chimed in on the board much this season, but since my first and last name was mentioned, I thought I would grace ya'll withi my presence. I am relatively close to the marching band. Never in it, but I am a music major and I know pretty much everyone.  There has not been any official word on what happened to him,  just rumors that I will not get into spreading on here because I know the (former) director personally. I will say that he is a great educator and has been i the state for many  years. He has won the state championship for high school the first three years they had it, ,and after he moved on from that school, they won two more.

It is hard to run and BUILD a band program with no money.  It is amazing that they have what they have.  We have seen how hard it is to build a football program and that is football.  It is hard to go to games and listen to the students of the school bash their own band. If we are getting punk'd by the Memphis Tigers, dont start taking your aggresion out on the band,  they are your own, they are Bulls trying their best.

On the other side, I have defended them over and over, ,but at this point I have to as well shake my head at what is going on. There is going to be a change,  new director, new drumline guy, and hopefully a new change for the better.  Should the band be bigger?  Yes, if they double in size however, to the size of the Marching chiefs, they wont have near enough uniforms to put on them.

They need to improve, we have a great music program at USF, and soon the marching band will thrive, but until then, they need support.  Lots of things need to happen for them to get better, just like the football team, but BOTH need support.  If you want them better, donate something to them.  They dont get million dollars big buisness donations, so instead of talking crap and pissing on them, when most of you have no odea what it takes,  support them....They are BULLS...

  10. Ok...dude...you are sitting in the endzone you say?  Have you taken a science class before?  When a horn is pointing towards the stands 90 degrees away from you there is a sound delay for you, however the drums are pointing everyone so you hear them first.  Get pissed at the coaches for an immature team who can't play a game without 10 stupid penalties, or our fellow students who only show up the the game to get pissy drunk and NOT watch the game.

  11. Being a music major myself, the School of Music building is the oldest building on campus and has been at the top of the University project list for years to get a new building.  In 1981 it was ready to be built, ,but the Sun Dome roof had a "problem" so they used that money to fix it.  It is now 2004 and years of promises later...Looks like a few more years.  Thank you Jeb!!! what a swell guy...
