Lots of NIT rules for a "neutral site" game last night put a damper on things.  It was kind of weird without the lights going out during Bulls introductions.  VCU videos got equal time with USF videos.  The PA announcer, the emcee guy and even the DJ were a bit toned down trying to be somewhat neutral.  No contests, trivia, etc. on the court during the game.  The band was less than half the size it normally was this year.  The students had no props for second half free throws (though they did get the mannequin Stu Dent in).  No Sun Dolls except half time and some cheerleaders were relegated to the second level.  Even the merch store was closed prior to tipoff.  It was just not the same vibe as the last few home games.  All that being said, we just couldn't buy a 3.  Great season!  It's fun to be a fan again!

    GO BULLS!

Good Points, my buddy and I were commenting how the vibe was a little off last night.  I thought it was because it was a Sunday and we missed the tourney, but I think it might be some of what you pointed out.

A slightly disappointing way for the season to end, as I really thought we were going to be in semi's of this tourney, but VCU played us tough and I knew we were in trouble when Miguel had 2 points late into the game.

With that being said, what a season!  Was also commenting to my buddy how in past recent years we could buy $7 tickets about 10 min before the game and pretty much sit anywhere we wanted.  Also could scream across the dome and pretty much be heard by everyone in the building.  Neither of those things were happening this year.  I think this is the type of season that builds permanent fans for Bulls basketball.  Not exactly the same, but in a similar way that the 2007 team did for football.

He was victim to an unimaginable circumstance with the passing of Bradley Mosley. We were beginning to turn the corner before Bradley was diagnosed with his condition.

Unfortunately, we never really turned it around and then we entered the Big East.

He still got us closer the the NCAA Tournament than Seth ever did.

    Seth made the NIT?

We throw around the term "dumpster fire" a lot in here but what he inherited truly was one. Any kind of a championship his second year was a significant accomplishment no matter how much some here want to look down their nose at it ....

Exactly...I'm taking that into account. The Antigua era was catastrophic.  I'm also considering the fact that this is USF basketball.  Not like we have a lot of history to gloat about before his arrival.  It seems this may be changing (please please please)

Gregory was always first class. No reason to try and dump on him now. A change was needed but that man worked hard here and brought us some success. I wish him well.

He was good for us, Ill always hold to that.  He was just never great.  We are now witnessing greatness.

can someone explain what "conference" OSU/WSU are playing in this year? Will they be playoff eligible?

Edit = so from what I can tell they are 2 members of the Pac 12 and playing non conference games in partnership with MWC.

I still don't know if they can "win a conference championship" or need to earn autobids... anyone know this?

They would need to go the parth of the 7 at large bids.  Thats why they wanted to higest ranked champion bids from 6 to 5...now they have 7 possible slots instead of 6

  6. THIS CHANT IS THE WORST... so many reasons why its cringeworthy...

If there are any students on here, please lord spread the word that its not a great look...only thing I've seen our students do all year that makes me shake my head in disappointment

    Otherwise, they've been amazing

There is one part that worries me.

Will students show up at noon?

(they never have before, noon games have always be bad student attendance)

After that monster Charlotte showing, this would be on brand.

That's pretty hard to believe.  I have to believe we sold out at least one BE game with Heath coaching.

Def had some close in like 7-8k range, but not sure of actual sell out

What does CAAR have in common with CAG? They are unproven and hungry. They want to prove to the world they got it. Total opposites from the Clemson dope and the GT reject. Sorry, not sorry, if that rubs anyone the wrong way.

CAAR gets it. USF has been moribund for years in basketball but he knows people will come out of the woodwork by winning mixed in with authentic fan and student engagement. It’s a flywheel of support he benefits from… Get people pumped to come out, create good home game energy and you have a 6th man in the stands making hell for opponents. Win and more will come…

Seeing him celebrate with the students last night was awesome. The kids will remember that and want more.

I know you're only doing it because they are the last 2 coaches, but don't think its fair to compare Scott with Gregory....Gregory had flashes of success, beat UCF a number of times, and even made a postseason tourney one year...

more fair to couple Scott to Antigua....two peas in a pod

only time I can remember was Cuse in like 2013- or so. We ended up in the 300 level.

I thought maybe a couple of those big east games we had people in third level...but a lot easier when cuse/uconn and the like bring in 2k fans

8 games left, sitting at 16 wins. Did anyone predict a 20 win season? Think we had a predictions thread, will be fun to dig up just like football season!

There was absolutely someone in the pre-season prediction thread (or somewhere like that) that called for 20 wins and people thought he was hammered drunk obvi

On October 9, 2023, I started a topic about the team being picked to finished 9th in the conference. Following is the beginning of that post:

Men's basketball picked to finish 9th in conference. Ain't happening!

My bold predictions for the Bulls this year:

    1. They will win at least 20 games.

    2. They will finish in the top 3 in the conference.

    3. They will upset FAU.

    4. They will either go to the big dance or the NIT.

I think that most people now believe that there is a strong possibility that these 4 predictions will come to fruition. Even, if we do not beat FAU, the other 3 predictions seems very likely.

It is a shame that some people have personality disorders that allow them to put words in my mouth and allow them to keep repeating things to make themselves feel better.

  11. So one of my favorite things to do this bball season, has been coming into work the next morning and reading the in game thread from the game the night before...

MAN WE ARE A NEGATIVE BUNCH haha...I get it, were USF, but this team has exhibited the ability to come back down in the 2nd half MULTIPLE times...my group that I was there with last night said if we are down around 10 at half we feel good about our chances...

Honestly, if/when we go up big in the first half of a game, I probably will start getting a little concerned about our chances...
