We were 69th in average attendance this past season overall, 5th in the AAC, and 7th among G5 programs while sucking out loud for 4 seasons.  The fans deserve medals.  The school has failed the fans,  Hopefully the commitment now turns things around, but none of those G5 programs have averaged over 50k a game

I agree with the sentiment, but the attendance figures that put us at 69th are very inflated. There’s no way we had more than 10-15k people at our games this year. At least the 3 games I went to.

We have a lot to improve on as a fan base and team.

  2. I know that I’m a newer fan, but I don’t like that video as much as most of you. It basically shows clips from 15 years ago “when we were good” and says that we are going back to that.  But are we, really?
We don’t play those teams any more, we have completely different coaches and conference…I don’t know, it just didn’t resonate.

Sure, it was exciting to see the past, but I’m more about looking forward.

ACC commish Jim Phillips on SXM today said the era about a school’s academic standing being a driving force in college athletics is over, unfortunately.

I know that our academics are decent, but we are nowhere close to being an academic powerhouse. Where does this academics narrative come from?

Our only chance on moving up is with athletics and winning a lot.

  4. Saying that we are getting into the ACC is as realistic as saying that ucf is going to the SEC! Let’s set real expectations and hope that we have a chance at getting into the B12 (or whatever it will be called). We have to win now and the stadium has to become a reality and we’ll be in a position to move up. In the meantime, we have to use this season to prepare for a weaker AAC and then run the table for 2-3 years. We’ll get ranked and back in the conversation.  Our facilities and academics will do the rest.

Yes, but why would you leave if you aren’t going to be making more money? You think the Arizona schools are excited about anyone in Big12? Or having to play in WV or Florida?

For them to move the Big12 must make more money and I just don’t see that happening

At this point, B12 seems more stable than the PAC. That could change, and I’m sure that you couldn’t say that about B12 a year ago. If the Arizona schools think that their ship is sinking, they’ll jump to B12, even if it’s a minor downgrade in terms of teams.

Welcome , I am shocked we are getting new fans and members. What brought you gents here ?

I enjoyed going to games while in school. I now live just outside of Orlando and there’s not a lot of people that I can talk to about USF football here (and I’m surrounded by ucf grads). The guys that graduated with me have either lost interest or moved away from Florida. So I probably googled something like “USF football fan site” or something like that. As corny as it may sound, this reminds me of a big family. Some optimists, some pessimists, some always happy, some always angry, some very welcoming, some living in the past, some always thinking about a better future, but I would imagine that once the season is here then everyone gets a little closer together and works towards helping our team and school get better.

Thanks for the welcome. If you are here just lurking, I recommend that you push yourself to be active, even if it’s just up/downvoting posts.

I just can't see how the B12 would be a benefactor in any of this. The Big 12 is not in a position to be the aggressor and poach the Pac12 if the rest of the Pac 12 stays in tact. Very reminiscent of when the AAC went after Big 12 programs when Texas and Oklahoma left and the B12 facepalmed the AAC and pulled off a reverse-raid 😂.

I agree with you, but the schools that B12 is talking to make geographical sense. I can’t see West Virginia ending up in a west coast conference, but I can see Arizona and Colorado in the Big 12.

This is a terrible scenario for us and I can’t believe how lucky Cincy, Houston, and ucf got!

The atmosphere wouldn’t have been amazing the last 2-3 years no matter where we played but it would have been better just based on the, hopefully, more students in attendance.

Agreed. Based on other schools I’ve visited, pre-game tailgates on a campus with an OCS is tons of fun even if a team has a losing season.

To me, the thing that makes USF's campus such a great place is that it doesn't have an on-campus football stadium.  If the football team is good enough, people will flock to RayJay as they did years ago when USF was briefly #1 in the country and played WVU at home.  Please don't RUIN the campus with an OCS.

That’s crazy talk! Have you ever been to an OCS on a game day? Any OCS! Makes the worse schools look great! Even FAU’s crappy OCS makes me wish that our gameday atmosphere was like theirs!

Sure, I never went to RayJay back in 07, and I’m sure that was great, but the atmosphere the last 2-3 years hasn’t been amazing.

I think the demand was a little higher back then when we were in the Big East and upsetting big time programs. Now all we got is hope that tomorrow is better than the last few years. Nice find.

I mean, I have no doubt that we’ll dominate the AAC starting next year, so there is hope!

Also, nice tent, I’ll be Tampa this weekend and I’ll try to get one!

Maybe it was Leavitt that was the worse thing to happen to us.  He showed us hard work, commitment and worse - winning.  He botched it. Had he come out of the gate as a failure, we’d think everything else was either status quo or a smidge better.

This was way before my time, so I’m sorry if this is a dumb question or if anyone takes offense…was he that great? I know we had a couple of good seasons under him, but he doesn’t seem like someone that built a strong foundation, so I question his greatness. I mean, it all fell apart after he left.

I saw Taggart have some success and I feel like he could’ve done some great things if he stayed.

I’ve only been here as a student & fan for one almost-great season (2017) and it’s been downhill since then.

True Rivalries are born on the field, playing for something. This one was born on the Internet by their ********* fans. Maybe if there wasn't that annoyance for such a long time and it could have happened the way all good rivalries are formed, possibly I feel different ...... but now, **** em.

Sadly, I only know this rivalry from a losing perspective and I hope that we can go out with a win this Fall!
