Interesting take/prediction.

Why was Navy originally added as football only, and now Army? Anyone know?

How wild will it be that if things continue to move down the path it's projected we will basically end up with a beafed up Big East 2.0
WVU, Louisville, Syracuse, Pitt, BC, UM, VT, Cinci (hopefully), USF, NC State, Duke, UConn, WF, GT

8 Conferences, 2 divisions each
16 Division winners faceoff in conference championships. Conference championships are essentially first round of playoffs. 8 Conference champions in playoff seeded based on rank.
It's that easy!!!!
Winning divisions means something! winning Conferences means something!

I know football is the main driver in this but I do hope MK highlights the success of our Olympic sports as a selling point as well. While the 2 biggest sports have struggled the majority of our sports have somewhat dominated in the last 5 years and would certainly be good fits in the ACC. Just don't see this being discussed, and it's a fair point, even if it's a small one.

Well I do know about it and it's not all that it's cracked up to be. The same teams win the big prizes unless a lightly regarded team becomes the plaything of some sportwashing oligarch or country, see Chelsea under Roman Abramovich, PSG, Manchester City. in Italy Juventus won like 10 titles in a row before their players got old. Bayern Munich in Germany is currently in the midst of their own 10 straight league titles. PSG wins in France unless they're bored. only 7 teams have ever won the premier league in England, with Leicester City's 2017 win being a shock for the ages. Before the sugar daddies came in and diversified the winner list, it was just Manchester United and Arsenal competing for the title.
Relegation is a good concept, but because the stakes are so high it's dog eat dog and the big dogs eat the most.
Yes, but when my Foxes won the league it made it ever so sweet, and since then FA Cup Champs and Community Shield Champs. Go LCFC!!!

Could ND be the savior of college football by rejecting the B10 and thus halting all this madness. If ND says no, Big10 may not expand any further, Pac12 stays intact by adding SDSU and Boise, ACC stays together with a ND commitment.
-
Does ACC have the brass to do anything proactive? If those 4 go Big12, does ACC have any clout at that point to poach WVU, UC.... let alone grab up the likes of Cal, Oregon State, SDSU etc... If Big 12 snatches up 4 from the Pac12 they are immediately the #3 conference with the inevitable departure of ND, FSU. and Clemson.
And for USF this is a terrifying scenario because I see no path to the Big12 after this.

When Oregon, Washington, and Stanford head to the Big Ten with Notre Dame... the best move is a "Big Pac" - merging of the two conferences... that would be 19 teams... need one more for balance - USF would make the most sense as a travel partner for UCF for the Olympic sports.
Would take that conference in a heartbeat!
-
Get that AAU status we've been chasing for a decade now, boom! Now you're the only option for Big10 for a Florida presence!
Also Pac12 Big12 merger is a terrifying prospect, while we're still on the outside looking in.

This is easily the best article I've ever read on conference realignment.
But they didn't mention our upgraded facilities or plans for a stadium.

It means arguing over what conference we would select to move up to is an odd discussion to be having when we would be perfectly happy if anyone was calling with whatever left over parts they had in their conference because the move is more about what garbage you get to leave behind than what is left that you are joining (completely ignoring that the leftovers that wouldn’t be good enough to move to are all more valuable than what is in the aac as it stands and that math is going to continue to get worse).
It is, but isn't that what this thread is all about
Hypothetical speculation and hope is all we have right now, don't take this away!

I think the overwhelming majority of fans would take anywhere that would take us that isn’t the AAC. This is classic incel internet behavior wondering about which super model is better or that you would accept if their elbows weren’t so pointy meanwhile they are running around hoping to get lucky with the local trogs.
I have no idea what you just said lol

Yeah, we'll just have to agree to disagree on this. I think the overwhelming majority of fans would prefer the ACC, no matter what the form and I'd have to guess Administration would think the same thing as long as we're doing the dreaming ....
Not saying I wouldn't take the ACC over our current situation, I would in a heartbeat, the Big12 teams are just more exciting and appealing to me.

First, you said that isn't that much better than where we are right now. You do know where we are right now, right? Second, I get that you're looking at it strictly from a football perspective but the other teams left in the ACC in that scenario aren't chopped liver and the uptick in hoops would be huge ...... and the cherry on top the sundae is that we wouldn't be reunited with the douchebags ...... no offense, rustbucket
Yes, it would be a better basketball conference, but basketball doesn't pay the bills, basketball is play money at best. A rehashed BE is just not appealing and can't imagine it would be for future tv deals. Also, once the big names are raided out of the ACC there isn't much out there on the east coast to back fill them in with. Being in the Big12 puts you in the middle of the country with opportunities on both the West and East coast should you need to expand further.

Inside the CFB 'Super League' pitch some execs see as a way to save the sport
Just listened to the author on the Dan Patrick show. He believes something like this will go into effect in the next 5-7 years. Really interesting read, allows for a promotion and relegation
