I did my homework. Strong had three 4 star QBs on his roster when he got there that were switched to different positions. there was such a log jam at QB that a 4 star that was recruited by the top schools in the country transferred out just 6 months before strong got there.

I bet strong would have converted Flowers to a RB.

good coaches will find a way to utilize talent. look at houston. their last 2 QBs were converted WRs and they were awesome. one even won them a peach bowl and went 13-1.

Do to your lack of knowledge you are the only one who thinks they were QBs. Pete Carroll and Tom Herman agree they are not QBs and that is why they have them playing WR and TE for their teams. Why don't you give them a call and tell them you know more about football then them and that they are QBs. For those of us like myself who actually saw them play can tell you they were in no shape or form college level QBs and their running ability was not good enough to keep them as running QBs. That is why they were beat out by a true freshmen who should have been red shirted.

You keep throwing out their stars ranking like it's set in stone. If you have been watching collage football long enough you will find out just because a player was a star in one position in HS doesn't mean that transfer over to collage. He maybe be a star RB in HS and become a star DE in collage, happens a lot.  No matter how mush you wish it to be the reality is they just were not collage QBs.

good stuff. wouldn't want to let facts get in the way of your argument though.

Strong was left with two 4 star QB recruits and 1 3 star QB recruit on his roster. not to mention Beuchele who was a 4 star QB recruit he brought in to start his last season there and 4 star dual threat jalen overstreet who had switched positions.

Maybe he just mismanaged his roster.

I'm sure puc and the apologists will chime in now how bad a situation Strong was in though.

Mack's 3 recruiting classes before the Strong hire were #3 in the country, #2 in the country and #24 in the country according to rivals.

Swoopes was recruited as a 4 star  QB. even had some pass attempts before Strong got there. Not sure why you think he was a TE.

David Ash was also a 3 star QB who had 87 pass attempts the year before Strong showed up. He was even named the most valuable offensive player in the 2011 Holiday Bowl. granted he had concussion issues.

Jerrod heard was also a 4 star QB recruit who converted to WR and Jalen Overstreet was a 4 star dual threat QB according to 247 that was converted and then kicked off because of Strong's no pot policy.

in fact the position of QB was so stacked that Connor Brewer, a 4 star QB that was offered by alabama notre dame michigan ,etc, decided to transfer out just 6 months before strong was hired.

here are some quotes for you and the apologists from an article written 6 months before Strong was hired. I know they don't like to look at facts but perhaps you do.

There are so many quarterbacks vying for snaps that Texas has decided to tinker with redshirt freshman Jalen Overstreet at wide receiver or the defensive secondary. And then there is, perhaps, the most highly regarded of the QBs, 2014 commitment Jerrod Heard (Denton, Texas/Guyer), who accounted for seven touchdowns in a state championship win last season.

A congested path to playing time was likely one of the main reasons for his departure from Texas. David Ash has started his first two seasons at Texas and still has two years of eligibility remaining. Behind him is senior Case McCoy, who played in eight games last season, and highly touted true freshman Tyrone Swoopes, who dazzled in the spring game.

"He's got a guy in front of him that's going to play at least two more years. They are making a big thing about this Swoopes kid and him being the future of the program.

Ash was hurt early and forced to retire,Strong had no time with him. Heard was never a collage level QB,he was a WR,which he currently still plays. Swoopes was also never a collage level QB,he was always a TE,which he still plays today for the Seattle Seahawks.  Jalen was also never a collage level QB he was always a RB. This proves my point by the lack of talent Strong had to work with when he arrived.

Strong had to release some players because they were a cancer to the school again that is on Mack for allowing that to happen. Beuchele was just a FR who should have been red shirted but his competition was a WR and a TE so he got the start. Do your home before you post. It's clear all you did was look at the recruiting classes without any knowledge of what actually went on.

  3. I've been coming to this site for almost a year only now have I wanted to comment enough to actually make an account. If you are comparing Strong's time at Texas to Herman's time then you must be clueless about football. Strong never had a chance at Texas. The talent level when Strong got there was horrible. Not only did they lack talent but they weren't coached up mentally or physically. The worst part was Brown didn't leave a single QB on the roster for Strong,he left him with a TE and WR has his only options to play QB.

Now go back and look at what Strong left for Herman. Strong left him a loaded team full of talent that been properly nurtured and had experience by the time Herman got there. Herman was lucky to join the team at the perfect time when Strong's'players were mentally and physically ready to take over the team from Mack's group of scrub players that Strong had to play with cause his guys were just young kids at the time and not ready to take over the team.
