Man you already know I'm doing my best politicking I can muster!
That's when you do my favorite trick, you buy them and say that you either won them or somebody at work gave them to you.

Dude has won the conference that we haven't been able to win (when it was arguably a tougher conference), won 11 and 12 games in a season, beat UF in a bowl, I could go on.
He struggled at Texas but he has won on a bigger stage than ours, so yeah, I rate him higher than Willie.
All that being said, I didn't want Willie to leave but I think this is ultimately a step-up...
Only time will tell though.

hot seat might not be the right word but a large portion of the fan-base was tired of him...

a year and a half ago CWT was on the hot seat here until being forced to make changes...
I wanted to keep the guy but let's not act like he is/was the greatest coach in the world...

If you had asked me even 3 months ago if I would rather have Charlie or Willie, not going to lie... I'd say Charlie and I still feel that way.

That is another part of the problem. Most of the time, they are given less of a chance to even succeed because they have to take the crap jobs just to get a chance in the first place. I think the only exceptions I remember are Charlie Strong and Ty Willingham. However in both cases those schools were near an all time low.
yeah, I can agree with this.

You can count the number of black head coaches that have been given a second chance on 1 finger. I don't think race can be ignored.
Tyrone Willingham?
Strong will get another one, as would Sumlin and Shaw if they got canned. While a definite problem, you can't ignore the fact that a lot of them got mid to low-tier jobs and did awful. That's going to be hard for anybody to get another HC offer immediately.
I mean what did Mike London, Mike Locksley or Curtis Johnson do to "deserve" another chance?

Good to see I am not the only one with a USF and SEC connection.

overall good but I would have been home and able to attend the St Pete bowl

I'm a bit worried with all of these job openings

SB Nation has us playing Georgia in the B'ham bowl. Granted they tend to make changes after the CFP rankings come out. I would love to see the matchup happen though

Filled up a bit from the start and they are loud! We always have student issues on Thanksgiving Weekend with so many folks travelling.
Every school does outside of the real big rivalry games at the biggest schools

Arkansas boards are saying the same exact thing; I'm not sure that he takes a DC job anywhere though.
Won the bowl game. Now what?

I think he will keep 1-2 guys at least for a year or 2. Usually the incoming coach keeps a couple coaches around to help the transition.
