True.  We gave up moving to the next level long ago (around 1963 or so).  After miserable seasons from 1997 to 2001, there were some who thought the program needed to move down to the FCS (Div IA) level.

Navy beat Houston and Memphis with the "corner" game combined with the mid-line QB option.  My guess is USF is going to perimeter defense which should open up the FB middle game and the occasional pass.  So many ways to scheme with the triple option.  Navy loses it is because we lose the turn over phase.  Right now the team is 25-1 when we don't lose the TO battle.  You will know how USF will fare by that single metric.

Navy will always defer if they can.  I have only seen Navy take the ball on a coin toss one time in 12 years; however, against USF, it might happen.  The coach may want to make a statement on offense.  USF's offense is fearsome to face.  Defense maybe the lesser of two evils (ok, so whether it is evil might depend on your perspective).

Good taste, charsibb, mostly.  Even after fourteen years (soon to be fifteen) beating the Woops just NEVER gets old.  Even a victory over Houston, as thrilling as it is, is pale in comparison (in our little service academy football world).  Gotta say, Go Navy, Kick Army's Ass (again).  

Now, back to USF football and Navy's visit.  Many Navy fans think USF is the only significant hurdle remaining to winning the AAC West.  You guys have a lots  of new fans in Houston which you will see if you visit their Scout board.  Memphis also.  Had no idea USF had such a national following. But we true fans of the Goat know in our hearts that Navy is Navy.  This years team has more and different personalities than Eve had faces.  Pacemakers are routinely issued to help fans hearts get through every endgame.  Here's to USF and your team.  Looking forward to a great game and first ever Navy victory in Tampa.

Lest we forget, the Continental Marines (predecessor to the USMC) were established Nov 11, 1775 to support the Continental Navy.   The first US projection of power overseas and Marine landing on a hostile shore occurred when a force of Marines under Captain Samuel Nicholas captured New Province Island in the Bahamas from the British in March 1776. From the Halls of Montezuma ( Battle of Chapultepec, Mexico, 1847) to the shores of Tripoli (Barbary Pirates, 1805) and the battles listed on the walls around the Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, this is the Services history.

Against Houston, Navy had two passing touch downs.  Against Air Force, Navy threw 32 times (one touch down made was a pass).  Out for the season is our first string quarterback (as nimble and quick as Reynolds), our first string ILB (and defensive team captain) and questionable is out first string FB, out in second half in Air Force game.  Many more injuries and Navy will have to recruit from the Corps of Midshipman in the stands for each game.  The team that beat Houston is composed of freshman and sophmores and few seniors that I had never before seen in any game.  Our new center is a beast (335#), solid and agile.  I think he may be the new Navy OL lynch pin.  Very impressive.  That all being said, we look forward to Navy's first time trip ever to USF and Tampa.  I  really love your town.
