TerpsFan4Life1982 - I wouldn't worry so much if I was you.  I am selfishly happy to hear that you do not believe you have a very good run defense.  If there is anything to worry about, it is Mack, who has proved himself in his freshman start.  Otherwise, I do not think you should have much concern.  I hope that we can keep it respectable.  

 

Am just one of those fans who worry.  Should be an entertaining game either way. 

I'm not sure I care if it rains or not. Seems like if it's raining, it favors our running game but maybe I'm just optimistic.

Why  does it matter if it rains or not? We are playing football. Maryland got all the way to  90 degrees. we have 7 players from florida its not like Maryland has never felt  heat or high temperatures or something. Rain/sun/heat, snow doesnt matter. Terps offense will still speed it up very fast and try to run 75-90 plays. and rotate out Dline with  8 players and our secondary is very physical.

Thanks for the insight Terpsfan, I think this game will be close and fun to watch. I think you do have the edge on us simply because of talent and experience. Our team is still very young. They could have a great game or they might not, very untested at this point. 

 

Yes that is true you guys are young. But i worry about every team we play. heck i thought the jmu game was going to be closer, like 30-17 win for my Terps we shall see.

This game worries me, Vegas has us -10 to -12 range. Thats less than  2 touch downs. a Special team Td or big return or fumble or int for a Td and USF can be in business.

The 10 major reasons why i am worried about this game.

1. Florida and the state of florida  speed. Maryland doesnt do well very speed on offense vs our defense. or Defensive speed vs our O.

2. Your running back Mack had 275 yards 4 tds. and the part that really impressed me was that He didnt even look tired.

3. Its down in florida , florida sun/heat/ fans NFL stadium. Big time game even heard some big time Florida recruits will be at the game to watch Maryland.

4. Maryland players not taking this game seriously. If you watched out bowl game we lost to Marshall and i believe we lost because the players didnt  take  marshall seriously.  

5. Cj Brown he is hot and cold. He could come out and have a hall of fame game 270 yards pass 2 tds,  120 yards rushing,  3 Tds he can do that, Or he can go  11-30  120  3ints. and  1 fumble , I hope good Cj Browns shows up.

6. Am worried about  USF looking at this game like their bowl game or a game to set their program on the map, and maryland just seeing this as a vacation to florida.

7. 3-4 defense you guys run. Pressure Defenses give our O line issues.

8. the 3-4 defense  Maryland runs. WE DONT STO PTHE RUN VERY WELL heck james madison rushed for 160 yards on us. Thats crazy. thats too much. 

9, We can be a turnover machine. We love to give the ball away. Of all the Big10 teams, Maryland is the only team with 32 straight games were we turned the ball ove.r So uSF fans  UMd will give you 1, 2 fumbles or picks.

10. Penalties, False starts, Pi. i dont know how loud Tampa stadium gets, but issues with noise could slow down our offense. And the best way for USF to win this game. is to slow it down, run run run milk the clock, keep Diggs, Cj Brown, and co on the bench and get marylands defense tired.

lol, hes been banned from both a Maryland and USF board already today, spent the morning talking about how terrible MD was, and spent last week talking about how he was burning his tickets and never rooting for Maryland again. So yea....

There are two sides to every story. I am a normal guy i am just very passionate about my sport teams. I was a happy lucky go  joyful  fan. But after years and years OF MARYLAND FANS even  my fellow fans, abusing me. And basically on line bulling me, I stand up for myself. and dont take crap from them anymore. And that makes me " crazy "  or aggressive. Its whatever. they even came all the way where to draw me as  " strange or crazy " if thats not some weird stalker crap i dont know what it. STALKERS.  but i am the weirdo. 

Thats my point Terpsfan....i have no doubt you guys are much improved and return alot but the doom and gloom on this board made me post this.....we have a chance to win every game, as do you.....

That is true  but -12 is almost 2 touchdown so vegas in on our side. but you never know.

   hAVE SOME  confidence in your team  bro. We are a good team  ranked  80th in the nation,  that same place has USF  101th. so its not like my Terps are world beaters. lol

Would think we were playing the Noles or something......this is still our house!!!! Show up, be loud, stand behind this team we are the 12th man....

I think as a Maryland fan i am confident about this  guy, Why? We match up very well vs your team. Am not saying we will win big or anything. But you never know any given saturday you can get beat badly. We over looked Wake forest last yea rnad they beat us at their place 38-17, we also lost to Marshall in our bowlgame. Maryland just lost another wide out (please football gods be nice to us) we had had some unbelievable bad luck with injuries last few years. we have now lost 3 top receivers already and its only game 2. But we are so deep at receiver its  ok FOR NOW. If we lose another wide out its oh oh time. 

Maryland is only favored by -12 ? i think it should be a fun  and exciting game though. Maryland plays a very fun type of football. And on defense we lost to blitz and play man on man coverage. 

I was impressed by south florida though. Your freshman Rb  Mack looked like Frank Gore out there. ANd i am scared of your offense more than your defense for sure. Why? your runningback, FLORIDA speed baby. i know you have explosive wide outs and even your Te price is good. And your O line is MASSIVE compressed to our D line which averages about  280. 

But the X factor could come down to special teams, Maryland has  Stefon Diggs Kick returner, And Will Likely (from the state of FLorida ) at punt returner. they are both very fast and quick. I know USF has Bunkley who is very athletic too and is a great  returner, But how is he at Corner? will he be covering Stefon Diggs? that should be a fun match up all game long.

And yes Cj Brown had a bad game passing, But i am sure he knows that and he will be better in game 2.

What type of offense does MD run? Also Is MD's QB mobile?

Cj Brown is very mobile. I would imagine its the same offense edsall ran at uconn

 

lol NO. Edsall hired Mike Locksley who is a GREAT recruiter, And was at FLorida when Tim Tebow was there. We run a 3-4 Wide out Spread offense,  35% wide out screens,  30% Qb rushes, and 25%  power running out of the Pistol and 20 % Option with Qb giving it to the RB or Wide out.(Diggs most likely) 

We also  run our plays very  fast. We arent as fast as Oregon, But we dont huddle and we dont give defenses anytime to lineup. We try to run  70-80 offensive plays a game. 

What type of offense does MD run? Also Is MD's QB mobile?

Maryland runs a spread 3-4 Base offense. With Sometimes a Fullback ( who is very athletic by the way 5'9 230  4.6 and we throw the ball to him alot)  We have 3 very good runningbacks. #1 is Brandon Ross think of him as a Reggie Bush (poormans version ) he  catches the ball very well. And is our out lets back  catching passes vs Linebackers and screen back. ANd he can also  run the ball regular and has some shake.  #2 Back is Reid  5'10  210 he is a mixture or Ross and Brown he has  power and shake and can make people miss.  

WES BROWN is a HORSE he is big 6'1 220, he is listed at 6'1 210. But from watching him  at the game he is bigger than that. He runs with alot of Power he usually takes 2-3 guys to take him down. 

Maryland has alot of very good receivers. But we have had some unbelievable bad luck at that position already, Our  biggest wr, Nigel King 6'3 210  transfored out of school to Kansas , because we were deep at that spot. Leverne Jacob out leading wr from last year just got suspended for the year, because he got in a fight and was arrested or something like that. ANd now his baby Brother Taivon Jacob who is a world class speedster is also out for the season.

SO my Terps are down to #1  Stefon Diggs = is  a monster and is pretty much the next DeSean Jackson,  #1B is Deon Long who is very good wr in his own right strong, and fast very good hands.  #3 Wr will most likely be  Marcus Leak a 6'0 210 guy , very very physical WR think anquan boldin  . #4  Amba Etta 6'2 200  speedster sub 10.60 /100 guy, Rs sophomore. 50-50 guy catches some drops more. #5 is Veii  a Slot wide out quick , shifty  , 50-50 he is young not too good hands 

Our O line is big and athletic and physical and experienced. Ou Tight Ends are a mixture of blockers and speedy Te in Hayward who is 6'5 230 4.6 speed flex guy.  

Maryland loves to Run our QuarterBack Cj Brown is basically  Pat White from West Va He is running Qb, who is ok at throwing. H is much better at Running than passing. He will also pump fake like he is going to throw then run. he is about 4.6/40 guy  but really moves.

We like to throw the ball to our wide outs bubble screens. You might get bubble screened to death this saturday, Because from what i watched of you guys vs West Carolina thats  what they did. 

We can Run the ball, i read some posts on here about Maryland cant  run the ball our Runningbacks are  last in the Big10. WE RUSHED for  285 yards  on saturday. 

South Florida in going to be in for a physical guy, Maryland is very physical out Defense is like a group of wild dawgs, THEY WILL KNOCK YOU INTO NEXT WEEKEND. Look at for #21 Sean Davis. He plays like Sean Taylor (RIP) next Miami  safety He is 6'1 205 and will come full speed  15 yards deep from coverage and knock your Rb or Qb out cold. The guy has 8 solo tackles vs JMU. 

Out secondary is very good. D line is deep, Linebackers are  athletic and can tackle.
