  1. A stadium is not far fetched... they just got Muma to cough up $25 million to slap his name on the side of a building that is already built.

They just need a donor to cough up the same amount or a bit more... lets say $30 million to start a fund, and then the USF Foundation office can issue bonds to the USF Athletics Dept. to borrow money with the understanding that it would be paid back + a fixed interest rate. SEC schools do this exact thing all the time to fund renovations and expansions of their stadiums. LSU for example just did the exact thing to fund the renovation of the East Stands of Tiger Stadium... got a bunch of bonds from their Foundation office.

Once construction begins Athletics can begin selling season tickets and playing around with donor levels to raise more money... heck they can begin booking concerts and other events as well to raise money, sell naming rights, etc.

Don't forget all that parking money... it adds up.

USF has over $621 million in its Foundation coffers right now, not counting that Muma contribution. So USF has right now enough money to fund a new stadium 10 times over.

Done deal... issue the bonds and call it a day.

  2.

Given our current level of play I can only imagine they are talking about the following schools...

    1 - East Bay High

    2 - Bloomingdale

    3 - Plant

I usually don't play the, "You only have 'x' number of posts" card, but ****, do you have anything good to say in your 55 posts?

If there was something positive I would be the first to talk about it. Like for example we have a good running back, hopefully he gets better and becomes a great running back.

I'm a realist, we come off as being downers, but are really just telling the truth. Most don't like to hear the truth... it ruins their delusions.

  3. Corey Bender â€@Corey_Bender 17m

    Per @McMurphyESPN, #USF & #Syracuse have scheduled a home/home series. They'll play in Tampa in 2015 & Syracuse in 2016.

Sorry to double post, but how in the hell is Syracuse a big name opponent? Seriously Harland needs to do some research before uttering phrases like Big Name and Syracuse in the same sentence.

Back in our glory days we owned them, and over all we still do.

Given this major let down I can only imagine what the other 2 "Big Name" schools will be... Rutgers? and Louisville?

  4.

Would think we were playing the Noles or something......this is still our house!!!! Show up, be loud, stand behind this team we are the 12th man....

I wouldn't call it respect... just the realization that we still suck and Taggart has done nothing over the off-season to make us drastically better.

I could be wrong, but I seriously doubt it based on how poor we played against WCU. I see us getting maybe 4 wins this season. Which I guess is an improvement from last year, but not the one I was looking for.

you're one of those fans that boo your own team at the first sign of adversity because of your unrealistic expectations, aren't you?

4 wins would double win total from last year.

not sure what a college coach can do to drastically turn a team around in off-season but it does look like he brought in a big time RB to help.

Unrealistic expectations? I'm sorry but when did expecting my DI FBS school to defeat one of the worst teams in DI FCS by more then 14 points become an unrealistic expectation.

I went into this season expecting a total of 6 wins... this also is not unrealistic.

A coach as touted as Taggart should have no issues getting his squad conditioned enough to best a FCS school, especially the worst one.

  5.

Students looked like they were rocking all game from my seat.

I am really excited for 3:30 pm Saturday.

That 3rd quarter team looked good. If we can play that way for 4 quarters, watch out.

PSA - DRINK LOTS OF WATER!

It will be extremely hot this week and next.

Is beer not a good hydration tool?!??!  :stirpot:

I don't know about hydration, but it will be good for diffusing the inevitable meltdown following the Maryland game.

  6.

I was at the game last night and then rewatched the game on espn3 replay this morning and im just not as panicked as some people on this board.

    1. I was proud to see the students section rocking. Something Im sure most of you dont know is that greek recruitment started this morning. All greeks has to be at school at 8 this morning and was proud to see how many greeks there were at the game even sticking through after the rain delay as most of us got home after midnight. (Also sidenote, Greeks will not be allowed to attend the game next week due to the rules set on us by the university so i am very interested to see the difference in the student section that causes.)

    2. I completely agree that Mike White was absolute garbage until 6 minutes left in the first half. But after that I think he calmed down and played a decent game. Im not saying good, im saying decent. I dont know if it was nerves in the beginning but I think the game would have had a completely different outcome if white had made those four or five throws he shouldn't have missed early in the game. Especially that first one where he over shot andre for the touchdown on fourth and five. If that touchdown happens I dont believe it take White a quarter and a half to settle into the game.

    3. Was really impressed that the team continued to fight after thor and the other offensive lineman left the game (blanking on the name) along with andre davis. I think if that had happened to this team at any point last year the game would have been over mentally for them.

    4. One thing that stood out to me the most was the comeback made by the team. I wouldnt put ALL the praise on Mack but he does deserve allot of it. I think considering we were down two offensive lineman they were still able to open up holes for him was impressive considering their inability to do anything at all last year. Also i wonder how much the passing game suffered not having McFarland or Davis playing.

All of this is just my own opinion but I feel some people are just blowing this game up way too much. I really do think if Mike White makes some of those throws in the beginning of the game it could have changed the whole dynamic. Now i dont want anyone to think im drinking the koolaid because by no means do I think that was a great or good win but I think for a team that went 2 and 10 last year there was a tangible amount of good to take away from the game.

What you're not understanding here is that WCU is the worst team in SoCon which is a DI FCS school. This game was scheduled because they were the easiest team USF could find, so that our players could blow them out and get some swagger before going into two big games against Maryland and NC State.

If we can't defeat a DI FCS school then that is a horrible sign that something is wrong. Its either the players or the coaching.

In any event I'm giving the team the benefit of the doubt, and fully expect to lose the next 4 games. Again if we can't soundly beat a horrible FCS school then what shot do we have at beating Maryland, NC State, Natti, UConn, or God forbid UCF.

    Dark days ahead.

you have no idea where they will finish this year.

    we did defeat them.

I guarantee the goal for the coaches is not to blowout some team so they can get swagger.

It is to work on areas of weakness to prepare them for the conference schedule and to get a win.

Not sure why people expected some huge transformation from last year to this.

we were 2-10 and scored 11 TDs all of last year.

Barely... we defeated the worst team in a FCS conference.

We went 2-10 as a FBS team... WCU went 2-10 last season as a FCS school.

Here are some of the "college powerhouses" that defeated WCU last season...

    - The Citadel

    - Samford 62-23

    - Chattanooga 42-21

    - Wofford

    - Georgia Southern

    - Furman

    - Middle Tennessee State

At least McNeese State last year was one of the best teams in the FCS...

  7. Would think we were playing the Noles or something......this is still our house!!!! Show up, be loud, stand behind this team we are the 12th man....

Lets just say that barely beating WCU will hurt next weeks attendance just as bad if we had just lost to them outright.

  9. I"ve personally committed the first $50,000 to his departure.  He is not only not ready for prime time, he's the worst coach in CFB.

I've been saying this when his name came up in the search. But what can we expect, after all this is what happens when you hire a search firm that only interviews one candidate. Nothing against Taggart, at the time he was a top candidate, but there were better candidates that had proven success in the SEC out there that the search firm ignored entirely. Those other candidates right now have shown great success with their new teams, while we have really not improved.

Regardless of how bad Taggart may or may not be... he could still come out and surprise us you know... crazier things have happened.

We are stuck with him for a solid 3-4 years max. We are not Florida or Texas, we can't spit a HC out after 2 seasons and hire another good one. So good or bad we are stuck with Taggart on this bus until 2016 or 2017.

The one shining light is that the new AD from UCLA won't tolerate failure.

  10. 1. What's on your tailgate menu tomorrow?  Chicken Brats, and Baked Beans

    2. How many games will the AAC win this weekend? More than half

    3. Which QB will take the last snap tomorrow? White

    4. Where will you watch the game? At home

    5. How much money will you win on bets when USF beats the Catamounts?

  11. True Story...

Last Friday I was at Brass Tap with some buddies, the place was full, they had live music, and then the Brazil game came on over the loud speakers... the band stopped playing and left, and everyone but 3 people left and went down to the next bar.

    Soccer sucks.

  12.

Seriously what educational benefits can be gained by renting drones to students? Do we have a NSA Spy course on campus?

The drones should had been given to the USFPD to cut down on the bike thefts on campus instead.

You have absolutely no idea how grant money works or what these "drones" actually are, do you?

Grant money is a way for government to apparently waste the money that it steals from us.

I could understand if these drones were being used for a specific program.... but since they are being rented out for joy rides by students, I'm not connecting the dots.

Appears to be another recruitment tool to boost admission... "come to USF for the education... stay for the free drone rentals".

  13.

The consensus on here seems to be 4-8, maybe 5-7 at best. That's not filling the stadium.

My thought process is more that if we made a sincere campaign to go try and sell USF alumni on buying season tickets (even nosebleeds), we could resuscitate our attendance really quickly. Given a good season, we wouldn't lose a lot. I.e. if we could get  25k alums to commit to buying season tickets and coming to games, even a 5-7 season would probably only bring the announced attendance down to 35-40k.

I think they should close the nosebleeds and offer the 2nd level of the bowl at nosebleed prices. It looks terrible on TV all spread out like that.

They will never do this, not as long as USF outsources its ticket office to a head hunting firm.

    Have to meet the quotas.

    Never happen.

No way in hell they cut seat prices for club level seats.

    Could not agree more.

Hence the issue with Ray Jay... its too big for our needs and our fan base.
