Here is something that might spark interest. We have all been looking at building an OCS by the tennis courts or greek village. What about tearing down some existing structure and replacing it with our stadium. I looked at google maps and came up with a few suggestions. Based on roads (entry & exit), parking, & stadium view. Here are my suggestions based on the previous criteria. Maybe some of you all can think of some other pros and cons with these sites.

    1. The parking area just east of Castor Pond. This site has all plus a good view over looking Castor pond & of the MLK plaza if you build a horse shoe style stadium. Castor pond could become the site where players take a dip after a major victory. Sorta like they do in golf.

    2. The area where the School of Business is located.. This site is sandwiched between two large parking areas. Most of which is at the Sun Dome.

    3. The area where USF post office is located, right at the base of the water tower. The best feature at this site would be the water tower looming over the stadium.

I'm not a real technical guy but maybe some could put that picture of the campus back up and put the Citrus bowl picture in these three spots.

Speaking to some people at Planning when I was working at USF, the tennis court area is the unofficially designated place.

1   They are planning on builting more dorms there.  Remember, they are planning on having more student residents on campus to get a residental campus status (for AAU).  There are already long term plans set.

    2.   The campus has "zones"  they plan on keeping athletics as together as possible.  The area you mention is basically the infrastructure zone.  This area with fill in as bigger buildings are built to handle increasing needs as the campus grows.

    3.  While nearby, this wont be done.  They just spend money on the BSN expansion, and plan on further improvements.  Wayyyyyyyyy to costly.  Remember, your paying to tear down a major building (and expansion) and now you have to build ANOTHER building on campus to takes its place.  Plus now you have to find a location on campus where real estate is greatly diminishing

I can corroborate this. At a Staff campus planning meeting a year ago, someone asked "Where's the football stadium going"... the person with facilities construction said "Where the tennis courts are now".

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

    DATE: Dec. 3, 2013

    Taggart Announces USF Roster Changes

Senior defensive backs Mark Joyce and JaQuez Jenkins dismissed from program

TAMPA, Dec. 3, 2013 – University of South Florida head coach Willie Taggart today announced the dismissal of senior defensive backs Mark Joyce and JaQuez Jenkins from the USF football program for a violation of team rules.

“It’s disappointing they both are seniors. We’re talking about seniors, not freshmen,†Taggart, in his first season leading the USF program, said. “We’re trying to change a culture in our entire football program to one that is total commitment to the football team and winning. There are consequences that come with anything that counters that. Those consequences will be paid. There’s no one individual who is bigger than this football team.

“They’ve done a lot for our football program. Unfortunately, they made a mistake. They’ve got to deal with their mistake.â€

Joyce and Jenkins both were suspended prior to the UCF game and did not play in that contest. Both players are on schedule to graduate in December.

Joyce started 22 career games, including 10 this season, and played in 47. He is the Bulls second leading tackler with 53 stops this season and has two interceptions. Jenkins started 15 career games, five this season, and played in 39. He logged 24 tackles on the season.

USF (2-9; 2-5 AAC) will complete the 2013 season Saturday with a 7:30 p.m. kick at Rutgers (5-6; 2-5 AAC).

They couldn't wait to do this until after UCF?

    Why would he?

Is he going tell the young guys on the team that the rules are only enforced AFTER a game? The message, I think, is way more important than any game.

There lies the difference between the Alabama's and the USF's of college football.

  3. Ray Jay is the worst college gameday atmosphere I have experienced...really bottom of the barrel as far as the pageantry that makes college football what it is.

I fully concur... a real college atmosphere exists regardless if you school is doing well or not, and who you play.

I've been to Duke on game day, and its no secret that Duke sucks... even though Duke football sucks, and they have a dry campus, their game-day experience is worlds better then ours.

We need an OCS if we are to ever break out of the mediocre cycle we are stuck in.

  5. I believed that Taggart would had won 6 games... boy was I wrong.

I'm giving him one more season to pull this bus out of the ditch. This season, as painful as it was, was a gimmie. Next year we had better beat UCF and had better hit at least 5 wins. If not then I'm off this bus, and will be on the fire coach Taggart train.

My buddy thinks that Taggart is a mediocre Sun Belt Coach and will always be one. He was a supporter of hiring a Bowden or Tubberville. In my view the hire of Taggart will be decided by two things... our schedule in 2014, avoiding a repeat loss to UCF, and if Taggart out performs Tubberville.

Tubberville was my choice to replace Skip, and he is now with Cincinnati. So far this season Tubberville out performed Taggart. Again I give him a pass for this season.

  6. Eveld had a TON of dropped passes and if not for the huge deficit, we would had been able to put something together to come back. He was basically put into a situation of throwing on everydown... even Plant High could had stopped us from going deep under these circumstances. Just send everyone back and prevent the big pass.

It basically boils down to this... Floyd has a better arm, but otherwise sucks... Eveld has a weak arm, but is an all around better QB.

I would rather have a QB like Eveld who is smart and won't give the game away vs. Floyd who will just huck the ball down the field and hope for the best.

  7. Nothing for guys in Pasco?

I'd like to watch next weeks game with some fellow bulls!

I usually hit the Beefs at Wilderness Lake on US41/Land O Lakes Blvd with the wife and my in-laws (big bulls fans)

Your welcome to join us up in Hernando County... we have watch parties at the Horse Lake Beef's in Brooksville.

If not then you can always contact the Alumni Assoc. and speak with the people in charge of Chapters and see about getting a Pasco County Chapter started. Its easy to do.
