I've been a "fan" of Coach Holtz from day 1, problaby too much. What I find amusing though is after the ND game there were threads about how ND might come after him, and would he leave or not. Less than 4 months later and many seem to want to run him out of town. We sports fans are a fickle bunch.

I'm still not ready to get rid of Holtz, just yet. I'm greatly disappointed by how this team has played this year. It has been awful, but I'm still not ready to get rid of him.

Holtz has had success before. He has shown that he can be a good coach by coaching teams well, and we have seen it in some of our wins.

Look at our Clemson win, we came out and look prepared and beat an ok Clemson team. Under Leavitt, when we played our 2 BCS opponents in bowl games, we completely wet the bed and looked like we never even saw that team on film. Just an example, we have seen this team look good.

I think he needs one more year, next year we don't lose much. Bringing in a new coach would really hurt our chances next year. Now, if Skip fails again and we're looking at another 3-4 or 2-5 Big East team, then i think it's obvious that change needs to come.

I assume you are referring to Oregon (2007) and NC State (2005)

having been on the field at both bowls, I can tell you that you have no clue wtf you are talking about.

The NC State game at the Meineke Car Care Bowl in 2005--- playing with our wet behind the ears team in their first ever bowl--- held them to 14 points, had TWO very impressive goal line stands, and simply could not move the ball against a defense that had not only the number one overall draft pick but several other very high draft picks-- one hell of a defense and we have PAT JULMISTE as our freaking QB-- yeah-- we really shat the bed in that game. Whatever. We held our own and couldn't move the ball-- Even ANdre Hall-- basically our entire offense was shut down. Wunderkind QB C4 was a fumbling machine. We were outgunned fromt he get go and you're giving Leavitt **** for that game-- PLEASE.

THe Oregon game-- we held pretrty tough with that team until the second half when our DEPTH became a serious issue. I saw no less than 10 starters on the sideline injured during that game-- tell me how the hell -- without proper depth--- we are supposed to not get rolled at that point. That group of injured players includes most of the offensive line along with Grothe. Sorry Grant Gregory is not going to save us in that game and their feature back ate us alive the rest of the day.

AmaZing how you DON'T mention Leavitt beating Skip's ass in the Papa John.com bowl in Birmingham--- a game sandwiched between the former two--- beat him down with Grothe in the first half and then ground him up in the second half with defense and Pat Julmiste running the ball of all things.

I don't wanna hear this crap and chest thumping over one win against Clemson and whatever else you have in your CSH coaching resume-- not if you are going to insinuate he is some uber coach compared to Leavitt-- SORRY BUD--- he hasn't earned that yet.

Our team is going to change quite a bit next year. I like how you say we get another 3-4 or 2-5 BE record--- um--- it' looking more like a 1-6 this year. ONE AND SIX-- think about that. If we finish at 1-6, two and five is an improvement. Color me unimpressed.

Excuse my little rant there--- but I am a little tired of people crapping all over CJL like he never did a **** thing for this school or program and CSH is some sort demi-god. All I ask is that they earn it. CJL was not perfect but we should give him some respect.

Lets see what he can do next year to right this ship.

And boom goes the dynamite....

Skip has yet to prove he can win games, consistantly, at a bcs level.....CJL, for what it's worth, is the reason we are spoiled fans...with him-you never knew and always held hope...I'm not seeing that hope in the fans with skip...

Holtz's success as a head coach is very limited. So far at th BCS level he has done nothing to be encouraged about. I think the moves he makes to change his coaching staff this off season will be a strong indicator if he truly has what it takes to be a BCS level coach. Does he have the balls to replace his longtime buddy Fitch? Make a change at Special teams coach? At this level he is going up against the best and the brightest every week. It won't get easier. He needs to show he can make the tough choices. Hell, even his dad demoted him from the OC position at SC when they started tanking.

There is too much money that has been invested in this program and at stake to keep getting the results.

This.

I believe we have the talent to challenge, I don't believe we have the coaching.

Exactly. We need coaches that stress fundamentals to go along with good playing calling on both sides of the ball. And speaking of leaders, good coaches find the guys who have that capability and help to grow it so those guys can take that role to encourage teammates and lead the team.

let me just clarify one thing here--- I'm not saying Holtz will never get it done.

But he has to earn our respect more so than he has done so far. We can't live on a handfull of decent wins a year -- we really want to see improvement via better effort and sounds field decisions/clock management. We always kicked around issues with Coach Leavitt with items like those and penalties.

Not only do I want him to succeed, I want him to exceed what CJL's high points and missed goals. Let's beat WVU

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
