I don't own a 3D television but I really want to see this game in 3D.  I live in Raleigh and have a couple of friends that went to Pittsburg so it would be awesome for us to make a special event out of the opportunity.  From what I've heard ESPN 3D isn't doing very well and might get shut down, so this year might be your only chance to catch a game in 3D until the technology gets a little more affordable.

I looked into renting a 3D tv from rent-a-center but now I've found out you have to have a 3D enabled cable box.  I've also looked around for bars that might have a 3D lounge but have come up empty handed.  Anyone got any other ideas?

I wouldn't even bother with the 3D at this point if you can't watch it on the non battery powered glasses or the wide angle viewing TV's. IMO 3D isn't all that great and is a dying technology and isn't worth it, similar to my major field of study.

I know buffalo wild wings in Orlando offered 3d tv's. See if there's any around you and see if they have them there too.

Have yet to watch a game in 3D, but owning a brand new 3D TV I can tell you it's not that tech is too expensive, it's that it kinda sucks. Flickering, etc. Even the vizio models that advertise no flickering pretty much suck. It's distracting and takes away from the game.

So, it seems that the consensus is that watching games in 3D isn't as cool as it sounds.  I guess we'll just look to watch it at one of our usual bars then.  Thanks to all of you for the feedback.

I have a Vizio 42" 3D tv, and the 3D content I have seen on it has no flickering at all, and the glasses don't require batteries.  In fact, they're basically the same glasses you get when you see a 3D movie in the theaters... which is great when you need a few extra pairs for the house.

I am thinking of getting ESPN 3D for the Pitt game on a trial basis just to see if it's worth it.
