Interesting stuff being noted on Twitter,

TBO_USFBulls Adam Adkins

With USF OT Mark Popek out, seen Jeremiah Warren slide over to left tackle, and John McGhin replace him at left guard on 1st team OL

TBO_USFBulls Adam Adkins

USF CB Spencer Boyd working with 1st team defense in place of Quenton Washington. LB Mike Lanaris also taking reps with 1s in middle.

TBO_USFBulls Adam Adkins

With two DTs out of practice today, freshman Elkino Watson taking reps with first team defense in 11on11 team drills

TBO_USFBulls Adam Adkins

USF CB George Baker also getting work with 1st team defense

With Q out I'm not surprised to see Baker getting work with 1st team defense, but Boyd?

Watson all the way to 1st team? Would think guys like Chandler and Sager would be ahead of him.

Watson had a monster scrimmage yesterday.  I think Chandler will be a solid contributor over time, but if he keeps it up, Watson could have a big impact this year.

first practice after the first scrimage i wouldnt read too much into it.  maybe some guys the coaches felt didnt get a good enough look during the scrimage so they are moving them up to get them some more reps before the team comes back from vero.

Also, injuries can be a reason to get a guy work with the first team ... simple as that.

the coaches are working on the depths charts right now.  you have to give a lot of time to other guys to properly sort everyone into the 1's and 2's.  this will also help with how to establish our depth and concentrate on our 1's.

I hope Chandler can make an impact this year. He has talent. Have not heard much of him.

You have to remember, with both Washington and Tabuteau out today at cornerback, guys had to move up.

Same with defensive tackle, two guys were out - Grissom and Thompson - so again, guys had to move up.

Guys were rolling at all positions - USF worked plenty of passing this a.m. - but was trying to note who was getting in and where.

When they called for grouping switches - first team O vs. second team D, vice versa, etc - I was noting on Twitter who was going in where as replacements for projected starters who were sidelined.

He's still only a RS freshman.  He'll have plenty of time to make an impact.  He'll get reps this year for sure, but he probably wont break out for another year or two.

Thank you for the info Adam and for taking the time to come to the board and post. I appreciate your effort and look forward to you trying to beat Greg on the beat!

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
