Lindys has us at 54 nationally and 5th in BE.  They like terrence mitchell and todd chandler as fture stars.  Also dede lattimore LB and ryan giddens.

Athlon has usf as 45 in US and 6th in BE going 6 - 6 on the season.  They like mistrel raymond.

Sporting News has us 6th in BE and no natl rank.  they like mitchell chandler davis hayes eatmon and giddins.

All three like the hiring of Skip.  Sporting news thinks he will help us become part of the new Big 4 in Florida.

Not trying to pimp my own thread, but I was surprised by the lack of responses on this one.  I had thought that the top college magazines with their predictions would have elicited some dialog.

Maybe everyone agrees?  Me, I could see us going 7 - 5 and I think 5th or 6th place finish is about where we will end up (unless Skip surprises us).  I also think a 50ish ranking is about right.

This year is hard to predict.... it could click instantly and everything work well or it may take a whole season who knows.... i think we can do as a good as a 2 loss season... and as bad as a 7 loss one. lets hope for the former for both scenarios.

Based on what you said I don't think they did their homework or how else could you explain that they missed mentioning our top two true freshman from last year- Barrington and Webster

Just keep status quo this year....get to a bowl game. I would be fine with 6-6 this season and to be honest it's not really a drop off at all considering the last few years where we only finished with 7 wins anyway.

Only last year was 7 wins, the lowest in like 5 seasons...

One of the common threads was they all mentioned the loss of talent to the NFL, and the relatively small signing class that was not that highly rated (as a result of being small, not for lack of talent).

I think that is because we have a lot of Sophs/Jrs next year who are athletic, talented, and skilled, who will be able to step up under the right coach.  If anything, having 7 or 8 guys make a professional squad is concerning considering our lack luster conference results the past 3 years.  Maybe the new coach will get more from the talent.

Every year, each team must reload at least 1/3 of their talent with players who had limited experience in the college setting.  So I am not worried about that.  We have a lot of OL returners, and a QB returner.  And our PK back.  The concerns I have are whether the D, who is full of top athletes, can step up since we lost a lot of guys there.  If they can turn it on quickly, then we will do fine.  Only other concern is WR.  Need to get some guys going there, but we do return a couple of good ones.

Yeah, I think the predictions and expectations are the same from national writers to local and to about 99% of fans

No.....

2008: 7-5 regular season

2009: 7-5 regular season

Both were turned into 8 win seasons by beating crap teams in bowl games.
