2004 BEEF O'BRADY'S TOP 25: Pre-Season

The Hawks of Seffner Armwood have the target as the No. 1 team in the state of Florida to begin the 2004 high school football season according to the Beef O'Brady's State Poll.

Defending 4A champion Armwood (Seffner), which defeated Lake Gibson (Lakeland) 29-21 in the 2003 Class 4A state championship game, begins the season ranked #1 in the Pre-Season Beef 'O' Brady's Top 25, as voted on by sports writers and sportscasters who cover high school football.

Armwood unseats 2A defending champ Chaminade Prep - which won last year's overall ballot by three points - as the number one team in all of Florida.

The Hawks were followed by Mainland (Daytona Beach), which won the Class 5A championship last year, 6A runner-up two years in a row - Edgewater (Orlando), Chaminade Prep (Hollywood) and Monsignor Pace (Miami), which tied for fourth.

Madison County, which lost to Chaminade in last year's Class 2A Final, is ranked sixth, followed by 5A runner-up Naples, 6A defending champion Carol City (Miami), Northwestern (Miami) and 2B defending champion Pahokee.

Jacksonville Trinity Christian, riding the state's longest unbeaten streak at 27 - checked in at 15th.
