Julmiste dismissed from program

Posted February 13, 2007 by Brett McMurphy

Updated Feb 13, 2007 at 08:20 PM

University of South Florida starting sophomore defensive lineman Josh Julmiste has been dismissed from the Bulls’ program for a violation of team rules.

Julmiste told The Tampa Tribune he was suspended from USF’s first six games this season for failing a second drug test. The penalty for a third failed test is dismissal from the team.

Check back later for more details.

Since the other thread is blocked now . . .

Looking at the current guys to take this position:

First you gotsta look at Robinson, especially with the depth at LB and expected addition of Tyrone getting his waiver.

Buie also looked good towards the end of the season.

Unknowns are RS-Fr Smiley, Peguese & Okolie. The Spring will help us see if these guys could help and if they stay at the position.

Harris, know he's played Inside, but maybe he could play outside also as did Tim Jones.

We had a great recruiting class last week; maybe Davis, Fonua(though I heard he's really beefed up for Tackle), Hampton or Powe.

Am expecting Robinson will work on completing his game and be the force he was last year.

Go BULLS !!!

Now we have another scholarship available.

Never know when a guy may come available in the Summer. Or we may still need one for the recent additions, but doubt it.

This hurts.

Not only the team this season, but potential for the future.  Isn't there another Julmiste brother looking at USF in a year or two?

I sure wish Josh had the same determination that Pat showed.

This really does hurt, ya there are guys that can play the position, but Julmiste's play really improved the D-Line and made us a more successful team on that side on the ball.

He was a big reason why the defense that gave up 359 to UCF; 391 to Kansas; was able to hold 5 of the last 7 opponents toabout 300 yards total offense (WVU had 310; ECU 317)

I wish him the best of luck

I dont think this hurts as much as you guys say it does. The kid had two strikes already...not many thought he'd make it through. We've got some kids lined up behind him that have shown a ton of promise, he just opened the door for them.

Losing a proven kid with his talent does hurt. I completely agree with kicking him off for violating rules, but USF is not in a position where like a player off a team and have a proven stud at his caliber to take his place.

We do have talent behind, and there are probably some very good players. But our Dline looked so much better upon Julmiste's return, which allowed the LBs to play better and in turn let the defense maximize its potential.
