Our coach is the least paid and the most overpaid.  Sorry.  Time to wake up and smell the coffee.

With 15 minutues left in teh 2nd half we only had 3 guys who scored for us.  Gransberry, Verdajo and Buckley.  What is really going on?

Those "free" pizzas were really taking a bite out of his pay --he really must have loved you.

South Florida men's coach Seth Greenberg has agreed in principle to a one-year contract extension through the 2006 season, athletic director Lee Roy Selmon said. [...] In September 2000, Greenberg signed an extension through the 2004-05 season. His current salary is $160,000, the total compensation about $225,000.

RMC's salary isn't the issue here.  If he was able to turn the win/loss ratio around, he probably would have been given an extension and more money.  He has had his chance.  We need to get someone in to turn the team around.  If we have to pay a little more, then that's what we have to do.

Again, as I said in an earlier thread, let's see what DW does after March.

I think the point here is not that RMC's salary is the issue, but what it will take to "compete" in the coaching market for a "Big East caliber" head coach.  Many want a new coach, but is USF prepared and able to pay on the high side of the Big East salary scale to bring in a coach that can turnaround the program, excite the community, win games, rename the Sun Dome, sell popcorn at halftime and get us a new facility?

I think BasketBull's thread is not to make an excuse for RMC as much as it is to illustrate where we are on paying our coach and where we would have to be to "compete" in the BE.  Get your checkbooks out folks.   Or should we just pull it out of football and tell CJL too bad?  To hell with Title IX, end girls sports, we need a new basektball coach.  It is what it is.  I hope we have the financial backing to increase our head coach's pay down the road.

Not a bad idea. This was another great thing the Liberals brought us.

Hard to believe that Boeheim, a Hall of Fame coach, is making less than $500,000 at a private school...

Hypothetically, let's say CRM pulls 7 wins out of his magic hat this season.  Yes, its a stretch but how much would he deserve for a contract extension?  I can't see giving him more than an extra $100K considering the misery we've endured of the last four seasons.  Another point is that CRM, while being the lowest paid also prolly has the lowest operating budget.  Don't think he can go galavanting around Europe and Africa to find recruits.

Pittsburgh: Jamie Dixon, He previously made between $500,000 and $600,000 a season in salary under a contract that ran through 2010. With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
