I actually am not trying to piss people off here. My first year here was also CRM's and my last hopefully will be his last (next Year) thus I was not around for the Greenberg era. I was a Miami fan before I got here and heard some talk about Seth getting the job down there. Why do the same people that hate seth (who was a winner at USF) love CRM (who has lost 2x's as many games as he has won) I want some serious anwsers because it just dosent add up to me. There are reasons that are very legit, some of which are not public.

Anyone who can't see the unfortunate circumstances he's had to deal with is completely blind. No coach would have success in this conference if they sustained the injuries and defections we have. Some were his fault, but most were not. All the chirping since Howard's reinjury proves how much people are just looking for a reason to bash Mac rather than actually analyze the situation.Where would Duke have been last year without JJ Reddick? They had trouble with him, without him, they'd have struggled mightily. Now i'm not comparing us to duke as far as quality or programs, just the circumstances of losing your ONLY truly talented PG hurts just as much as losing a star player (if not more) when that star is surrounded by other blue chippers. We don't have the luxury of being loaded with blue chippers and won't, not for a long time unfortunately, so every injury to important personnel hurts that much more. This year last year we had Cann, Howard, Cakpo, Buckley, Dennis all hurt for stretches, and a couple had season ending injuries. Get over it. We will work with what we have. At least this year we have a 2nd option at PG with Bozeman. A luxury we didn't have last season. With the talent he had here we should gone to the tourney and further in the C-USA tournament than we did.Like CRM, Seth is very nice guy was always very good to the students, but again-it comes down to the bottom line. Seth did not win and never won Big Games in season either. ITS ALL ABOUT THE "W"
Guest
I am with Velcro... when Seth was here, I supported him - but wasn't happy that he could not seem to have success on the court. He did, however, raise USF's profile by raising our level of OOC competition. He left USF in quite a lurch, and then attempted to steal recruits. He did not handle the departure in a gentleman-like way.Looking back, it appears that Seth was mostly about the PR and image (hence the free pizzas to the Greenburgopolis) - and less about recruiting and coaching good players. Finally, I would add that given the turmoil of the past few seasons, I don't know how any coach - Seth, Huggins, Coach K - could have been able to be THAT much more successful. I am now a Coach RMc supporter because he is USF's current coach and I like his approach to the game. These are just my two cents.

Every coach has them, not every coach uses them as a crutch. CRM does and so do his jockers. ;D
SMHUSF Posted July 7, 2006 Group: Member Topic Count: 11 Content Count: 67 Reputation: 0 Days Won: 0 Joined: 11/26/2005 Share Posted July 7, 2006 The guy is a jerk. I worked for him his first season at USF and worked his summer camps. I always said that I hated him as a person but liked him as a coach. After seeing no improvement in the likes of B.B. and Altron I stopped liking him as a coach.

Think Altron is still #1. Those dudes sucked! ;D

I do know there were a few a-holes pushing for his termination. I thought it was time for Seth to move on, but I was not part of the a-hole group that acted like radical activists in front of others at games, watch parties, etc. - even constructing a "boycott" of USF games - talk about stupid. I am happy to say that our current detractors have not gone so far as to suggest boycotting games. Seth had a long run and did good things. Problem was he could take it no further. He had, what 7 years? The bottom line is simple. He stalled, even began to lose in recruiting. As I recall his first class was a Top 25 class and I believe early on he had a Top 40 class too. those days never returned. So under Seth, while wins in November and December looked good, Jan- Mar killed us.The program was tailing off - not a whole lot different than when Seth took over from Bobby. Seth did good with what he had, but lost the inertia. So, I know the intent of the thread and that is to say CRM is worse than Seth. But I am not going to go around with anyone on that again.
