We are coming up on the 1 year anniversary of a ten year deal with the Vinik Media Group.  I'm a bit disappointed in the lack of traction at this point.

Perhaps JK or even John Lewis could weigh in on what/when can expect more?

Someone needs Vinik to get involved in the OCS. He has transformed the LIGHTNING into the pinnacle of what a sports franchise should be.

Thought we were seeing some of that effect with the Sun Dome naming rights. I assume I haven't missed the official announcement? Have seen a little difference with some of the Sun Dome personnel's more outgoing interaction ..... but nothing real tangible .... that I can recall. I do have faith, though, if any group can do anything, this is the group.

Just wanted to share: when measuring the effectiveness of the Vinik group, please be careful to know what they are responsible for and what they are not. 

I am pretty sure they have no responsibility for donations/fundraising (football stadium/football practice facility). 

They have the ability to sell Sun Dome naming rights, advertisements at the games and on the USF broadcasts (radio/internet). 

In a separate deal, they are also running the day to day operations of the Sun Dome and responsible for booking revenue producing events into the dome. 

Their success will be measured by $$$ provided to Athletics from these activities.

I was skeptical of the Sun Dome being named after a beer brand.  As I thought, it has not happened.  I'd be curious to see what happens in the next few months as we lead up to football.  That's a lot of money for no tangible results as we approach the one year mark.

With any type of marketing/business development there's a lag time.  I'm not sure what it is expected to be for this type of deal, but I'm not surprised that we, as in the fans, haven't seen have any, "tangible results" in less than a year.

Important to note, I am pretty sure the Vinik group is not responsible for any marketing of USF Athletics. They are selling marking inventory to businesses to be sponsors of USF Athletics. ie- turn on the radio broadcast of the USF baseball game right now and see if they play commercials between innings.

Yep, my understanding is that Vinik’s team has nothing to do with marketing content but is in charge of seizing that content which is predominately created by USF. But if the quality of the promotion is not great it is a tough sell. Change needs to come at the base of the organization

Good points Mike Stuben.  I thought we would see some additional butts in seats at events.  I was looking for a big splash, but a few tangible wins in year 1.
