Went to a conference over the weekend and heard a very interesting true story.

A business professor and an engineering professor got together to create a course in Engineering Entrepreneurship. But the bureaucracy wouldn't approve it. Too much infighting. If it was listed as a BUS course, engineers wouldn't get credit, and if it was listed as an ENG course, they wouldn't let the business students count it towards their degree.

So the two professors wrote the course descriptions and syllabi, and offered TWO "different" courses. One was offered as ENG, and the other as BUS. The room number was listed in the registration system as TBD.

A few days before the first class, the registered students - from both schools - got an email where the class was going to be held. Imagine their surprise when they got to the classroom and found TWO teachers and 2x students in the room.

Cool way to get around the bureaucracy and create a cross-listed class without cross-listing it. :guinness:
