My anecdotal evidence having lived in Seattle and New York, among others, and given countless people advice on their FL trips - many of whom own condos or time shares ~45 minutes away on the Space Coast - must be significantly worse than your guys. I apologize.

If the majority of people you talk to about Orlando are in that category it's understandable where you'd get that impression .... but the overwhelming majority of everybody else will equate Orlando only with theme parks.

If they own a condo on the water in FL, how do they not know where Orlando is?

Sigh. Guys, it doesn't matter *where* you mention. In my experience one of the following *will* be brought up in regards to Florida in a conversation greater than 10 minutes.

1. The weather

2. Beaches

3. Theme parks

4. Old people

Regardless of whether you're talking about Tampa, Orlando, Miami, Jacksonville, Gainesville, Tallahassee, etc.

I don't think some guy from Iowa is going to see this "beach" and point and laugh to all his boys chowing down on corn "HA HA HA THAT'S NOT GEOGRAPHICALLY ACCURATE, THEY'RE 45 MINS AWAY FROM THE BEACH" - which, by the way, is infinitely closer than 90% of the rest of the country.

Agree completely. I probably should have suggested you change your assertion from At least people think "beach trip" when they hear "Orlando" to At least people think "beach trip" when they hear "Florida" and all this back and forth could have been avoided ....  ;)

In the spirit of accuracy, its closer to 60%.

Ironically we are all pointing out the geographical inaccuracies of a themed area inside a stadium, and yet we attend(ed) a university that was never truly geographically accurate, and became even less culturally/socially geographically accurate after the 1970s.

BTW, surfing is definitely possible in some parts of the east coast of the state (and any area of the state's coasts when tropical storms are present), but I don't equate surfboards with Florida, or really any of the east coast of the United States. I usually think California, or Costa Rica or Hawaii.

No, we aren't ... we've just been pointing out that most people don't think "beach trip" when they hear "Orlando".

60% of the country is a coastal state? News to me.

Not sure how you got that. Looks to me like what he's saying is 40% of the country is 45 minutes from the beach ... and in this case, I don't think "country" is being used in the geographical sense ... so that may well be more accurate.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”
