They didn't hire a search firm for $60K to make sure they found the right coach?! How will they know if he actually graduated from college?

If this guy fails, I'd have to think Foley would be out.

Csu just pushed the gators into basically paying $9M for a coach. I applaud them. Maybe if Taggart does something we can do the same if a bigger school comes calling.

Sucks for Colorado State. You have to believe they were thinking they were next in the realignment lottery.

In the grand scheme of things neither CSU or USF will be able to hang onto its hot shot coaches, if another, more affluent athletic program wants to pluck him or her away. I applaud their AD for sticking to his guns and making UF respect that buy-out clause. And it looks like CSU gets a game out of it in addition to a bulk of the percentage of that buy-out. Well done, Tony Frank.

Totally agree, but another school would snatch him up in a New York minute.

Yeah, that's a blueprint.  If these P5 schools are going to exclude the G5 schools from playoffs and opportunities for major TV revenue, by God they are going to pay the price when they come for G5 coaches.

And CSU will get every last bit of that $7 million.  They only came off $500k from the full buyout cost, and the best part is that McElwain has to pay $2M of it.  I'm sure UF will somehow make it so he doesn't, but still - love how this went down.

All that was missing was a CSU home game.

that would have been a deal-killer for the Gators. They haven't left the state for an OOC game in decades

What about their national championship wins in 1996 and 2006?  New Orleans and Phoenix.  ;)
