Good thing they're employee-owned I think this will continue, until Publix becomes a publicly traded company. The company tune may change then. A little off-topic, perhaps, but there was a big push for de-mutualization of insurance companies a few years back. What it amounted to, in essence, was the current generation of policy holders cashing in all the savings of all the previous generations of policyholders, then selling off the operating arm after extracting profits they were never intended to receive. The ones who remained mutuals were generally those that had "no selloff" clauses in their charters, IIRC Hopefully Publix has one of those clauses, and the employees don't get "sold out" by greedy grandchildren looking for a quick buck by cashing out Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
