USF students can now check out drones for aerial photography. Privacy concerns galore, but hey, it is kind of neat.

Official announcement here http://news.usf.edu/article/templates/?a=6347&z=213&utm_source=library-renovations-061714&utm_medium=rotator&utm_campaign=usfhomepage they will also be able to check out video cameras, microphones and even drones. Students, who will be provided training in advance, will be able to check out the small remote-controlled airplane containing a video camera, which can be used to capture footage from an aerial view. Which is interesting, because the FAA still forbids all drones - the only one licensed to date is for somewhere in Alaska, IIRC Edit: Yuppers, Prudhoe Bay http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-0611-faa-bp-drone-20140611-story.html Edited June 20, 2014 by charsibb

Private drones used for things like photography aren't banned.

I really don't know for sure but for the sake of conversation just throwing it out there. I would think that they opperate under the same rules as remote controled model airplanes? What is the difference between someone taking pictures for hobby or selling the same pictures? $$$$$$..... The government wants to interject itself if money is involved. They want a piece of the pie. No money, okay they don't care.
