With coaching changes there is usually some turn over but not to this extent. Some of the guys leaving are not huge losses but Coach O's biggest task was to keep the talent we had. Hawkins and Egbunu are huge losses. We have this great recruiter who cant even keep the biggest talent to ever come to USF on his basketball team. This upcoming recruiting class is not on Coach O, but the next one better be a **** good class otherwise we are headed back to the Robert McCullum days. The move to fire Stan is looking more like a terrible decision. Im sure Collins is the next to bolt, and I cant really blame him. Might as well go somewhere that he has a shot to make it to the NCAAT. It's not happening here in the next 2 years. Again this hire does not look too hot to me. Would he look better to you? Just relax and give the guy some time. Egbunu is the only irreplaceable player so far, but there's not always a way to lock down everyone. COA has managed to secure an LOI from the remaining Heath recruit, and we have some interest from solid transfers...let this play out and step back from the ledge man. And, we don't know if these guys would've stayed under Heath. It reminds me of an exchange at work, years ago, concerned about investing in training employees. Manager 1: What if we train all these people, and they LEAVE? Manager 2: What if we don't...and they STAY? Point is, you have to drive your team to get better, and if that weeds some players out, you're better to do it now than be stuck with quitters during the season. He's been on the job less than a month. His biggest task is to get the program back to where it was two years ago, minimum. With regime changes, you have transition and at this point, we've got a pretty inexperienced staff at actually running a college program, which is what you're normally going to get with hiring an assistant rather than a head coach. We may have some growing pains but tip-off is still 7 freaking months away ...
