We need all the money we can get to pay off contracts for coaches that don't work for us

too bad we are paying ex coach Heath, when if he was our current coach we may still have some players on our roster.

$500k is pennies for the Big 10. They make millions per year each just from tv, let alone tickets and merchandise.

$500K is chump change to no one anywhere.

IU is not Ohio State or Michigan. This was quite the mistake on their part financially speaking. Sure they get another home game in 2015, but they signed on for an FIU road game in 2016.

They're due to make $25 mil off TV rights next year, and the Big Ten TV deal opens up next year.

They'll be okay...

IU would rather play UConn & FIU and cancel with us.

I am seeing a trend here. Is this the "softening" of their schedule?

I think so.....

So apparently Indiana is buying out the series with USF in Football and they are now reporting they are signing a deal with UConn?

http://courantblogs.com/uconn-football/uconn-and-indiana-to-kickoff-series-in-2019/

http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/22/indiana-pays-750000-to-swap-usf-for-fiu-in-2015-2016/

So Indiana pays us 750 K and replaces us with FIU and now UConn,   They scared or do they think we are not Power 5 SOS worthy?

Based on what teams, Steve?  Notre Dame and Northwestern/Michigan?  How about giving us a link to a buyout with similar teams that meet your standards?

Respectfully, totally different animal. Baylor had us play on the road, then only canceled the game in Tampa. Baylor was similar to Utah and FIU which canceled the last game of a contract after we upheld our end of the deal.

For what it is worth, we did the same thing to Utah State and I think Illinois State.

Indiana dropping the whole series is not a big deal, and with the awesome contract we got a great payday.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
