Oliver Antigua and Rod Strickland were named assistant coaches while Jerry McCullough was named the director of men’s basketball operations. Oliver Antigua spent last season as an assistant coach for Seton Hall after spending the 2012-13 season as an assistant coach at Manhattan College. He started his collegiate coaching career during the 1998-99 season as an assistant at Pittsburgh for one season. Antigua was part of the Jaspers’ run to the 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship game. Serving as an assistant under older brother Orlando will be nothing new for Antigua, as the two worked together this past summer for the Dominican Republic National Team. Like Orlando, Oliver enjoyed a successful career at St. Raymond High School in the Bronx, where he coached the Ravens to five Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) Class AA championships over his 13-year tenure. “Oliver is a terrific recruiter and coaches with great energy and passion which will benefit us here at USF,†Antigua said. “He helped assemble a recruiting class at Seton Hall that was ranked No. 10 in the nation and No. 1 in the Big East Conference.†Strickland spent the last five seasons as special assistant to head coach John Calipari at Kentucky, the same time Orlando Antigua was an assistant coach for the Wildcats. A two-time All-American at DePaul and a 17-year NBA veteran, Strickland brings a wealth of collegiate and professional experience to Antigua’s staff at USF. The former first-round draft pick of the New York Knicks (1988), Strickland began his career in college coaching under Calipari as director of student-athlete development/manager at Memphis in fall 2006, and in the summer of 2008, he was named director of basketball operations for the Tigers. Also in 2008, Strickland was inducted into the New York City Basketball Hall of Fame. “I worked very closely with Rod for the past six years and he is ready for this next step up in his coaching career,†Antigua said. “We had a chance to work together for a hall of fame coach at Kentucky in John Calipari. Rod has tremendous knowledge for the game and will be a great asset for the program.†McCullough spent the past two seasons as the head coach at The MacDuffie School in New York City. The 1996 Pittsburgh graduate is one of the best in Panthers history, ranking 17th in career scoring (1,342 points) and sixth in career assists (552 assists). A New York native, McCullough enjoyed a 13-year professional career (1996-2009), mostly in Europe. “Jerry and I have either played with or against each other since I was 14 years old including three years together at Pitt,†Antigua said. “He will be someone our players will be able to relate to. Jerry’s organization and communication skills will be beneficial for the role of director of operations and will help this program succeed.†- #GoBulls -

He needs to buy a taxi fare card. Leave the car at home and leave the driving to us!!
